It sucks that there arent any other alternatives to newegg that will ship your product the next day and get it to your frontdoor in 2-3 days. Maybe thats why there shipping is more expensive because there not shipped by ground but by air.

Zipzoomfly.com

Most items have free second day shipping and are usually cheaper than newegg to begin with. I gave up on n
Newegg two years ago and completely switched to Zipzoomfly.

I hate to point out the obvious, but you guys in the US have so many places you can choose from it's not even funny.
I would be extremely happy to have an online store like Newegg to order from here, but we really only have NCIX.com here, & even they have far smaller selection.

Be happy 😛

You do realize you can add a verified shipping address on your credit card that acts the same as your billing address. Just call them up and tell them you want to add a verified shipping address of your office since you get most of your stuff shipped there while you're at work. Shouldn't be a problem.

The honeymoon has been over for a while for me. Too many screw-ups, lousy CS. They got too big, and my only regret is that I helped.

Also, not sure where you order from besides newegg but I have never found an online store that wouldn't ship to an address other than my billing address. I get stuff shipped to work all the time and order from a ton of various stores without a problem...you may want to look around a little more 🙂

I was thinking something along those lines. If you don't like the place, shop somewhere else.

Someone else mentioned their deals on some heavy items - UPSes with $6 shipping, stuff like that.
But again, if their shipping is too high, shop around. I am another one who buys small items at SVC, Bestbyte, or somewhere else like that.

I called recently when I bought my shuttle xpc. They're tag line is now "Once you know, you newegg". That really turned me off. I don't need a cheesy motto. Just give me good service. Can't complain though, the service I got was excellent. I messed up on an order, but all it took was 1 phone call to clear it all up.

But its nice to know that there's choice now. Next time I want to buy something, I'll be looking at GG and Monarch as well.

i think newegg is very good havent had any problems shipping very fast. prices low of course not on some products but buying all the stuff you need is alot better than buying it all around different stores IMO

I like newegg alot however the last time I ordered from them was a DVD burner and it took them a couple of days to ship it. I called them and talked to them about it. They upped my shipping to fedex 2 day so they kind of did the right thing.

I have used them a lot and have only one complaint. If you get a defective item, they add insult to injury by making you pay the shipping cost to return it, even when you cross ship a replacement. Once they receive the item, they should verify it is bad, charge the manufacturer the shipping cost, and credit your account.
As far as the general shipping cost goes, I don't care what it is. I look only at the bottom line. If it is more expensive I shop elsewhere.

what really pisses me off is their rediculous shipping charges. yeah, im sure it costs $10 to ship 2 sticks of RAM...

Do you not think it costs them anything to box it and put the packing peanuts in? Granted, not that much but they have to make some money somewhere and selling things pennies over invoice doesnt cut it sometimes. How about the times when they give FREE shipping?

Just yesterday I wanted skt 754 mobos, w/ sound w/video intergrated. Simply put those criteria in on AMD motherboards search page and it kicked down 10-15 results I could choose from. Next each item has sweet photographs to see board layout etc. No other site is this clean. So I still cater there...just less.

Yeah, you can't discount that database. Monarch, ZZF, excaliberPC, mwave are all good retailers but newegg just puts their website to shame. Its just plain so easy to get exactly what you want out of newegg. And their prices on most larger stuff is fair and competitive.

On little stuff like fan grills, cables, and case doodads...buy it from SVC. They've got an awesome selection, great prices and as has been said, the egg will rape you on shipping for those things. SVC's website design isn't to bad either since they cross reference different catagories but their search sucks.

This is my experience too.
I build out a pc on newegg than pricegrabber/froogle it and end up with zzf, monarch and maybe 1 or 2 parts still at newegg.

I hate newegg's mobo rma policy, and their 8 dead pixel lcd monitor policy.

But I do love their database, website in general, and reviews.

You can think so because you haven't had any problems. When ytou do, you will see what we mean: they really suck where it comes to resolving problems.

oh i forgot, .03 cent packing peanuts...

newegg USED to offer free shipping on almost all their items, but now its rare to find free shipping on 1 or 2 parts for a computer order.

In the past I have purchased some items like a Linksys Router and a Motorola Surfboard cable modem with free shipping from www.amazon.com/.

They may not have all the hardware I need, but what they have is usually at a good price.

Volcano 10+ for ~$14 @ Directron

:disgust:

Directron's selection isn't quite as good, but their prices and shipping charges are fair, and their customer support is great. I tend to look to them for an online order first. I recently did an order of a bunch of smallish stuff--fan screws, keyboard, Ceramique, fan, fan bracket--and Newegg didn't cut the shipping at all for multiple items while Directron did. Newegg's shipping was about triple Directron's. Also, Directron is pretty close to me (one state away) so I get things quite fast.

I have used directron for cases (but it has been a long time since I bought one). My gripe with them was that the case was OOS and when I asked (by phone!) I was told "it just came in today"... three days later when I asked (by phone) I was told "we are putting it on the truck today".... another three days later when I asked (by phone) I was told "we shipped it today, but don't have your tracking number yet"..... another four days later.... I got an email..... "here is your tracking number"... two days later I got the case.

Now I have no issue with backordered stock being somewhat of an unknown, but I simply will not tolerate being lied to by ANY vendor.

ExcaliburPC is a place that offered me a good experience on some ABit motherboards. They are located "next door" to ABit and I consider them to be THE resource when I want ABit. (I liked their customer service also.)

I shop quite a bit at NewEgg, but have noticed that over the last several months I need to double-check the price I am paying. As shown above, sometimes they are not even close. Other times, they are right in line with the better deals out there. But unless there is a disparity of significance, I will normally chooose NewEgg. I have had nothing but pleasant experiences when I needed to 'fix' an order, or (only happened once) RMA a DOA Graphics Card. At that time, I paid shipping to them, but they paid for the shipping to me. I didn't mind splitting the cost because they have no way of knowing if I am some idiot that had just burned up the card trying to match the exaggerated OC claims of others or not. They were polite, very accessible and satisfied me completely when I needed it.

my best advise, if you are having good or bad experiences with any vendor, PAY ATTENTION TO THAT. Further, be cautious about what you believe in terms of "customer comments" whether on the vendor website or a trusted forum..... People have a hard time being objective and some love controversy...... Just don't patronize any vendor that didn't please you in the past.

i guess after all these years of free shipping, they had to find a way to recouperate their shipping charges.

i expect zipzoomfly to follow a similar trend soon.

like the few example above, the memory or the HSF...it happens quite often that newegg is *exorbitant* more for some/a lot of items..eg. recent examples the Asus motherboard, heatsinks/fans...cables....everything..and then in addition the shipping charges.

Rarely you can find a deal, eg. on monitors or bigger, single items which are cheap w/ free or reasonable shipping. Also...if it would be ONLY the shipping, maybe i could live with it. But items almost twice as expensive as elswhere ? This is not the newegg i remember from three or so years ago....

I have shopped at Newegg and ZZF. ZZF got my products out to me faster with free 2nd day. You have to add the shipping charges to compare prices and ZZF usually has the better price when all is said and done. So yes, Newegg shipping sucks. I use their site to search and look at products I'm interested in and then purchase them elsewhere for less. Thanks for those features Newegg!
