i have this list with 34 vendors who sell the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe.

The list starts with $177 and ends with $274 dollars. For the same identical board.

Newegg is on position 33, second most expensive of all those 34 vendors.

(Not that i need a Asus, i already pre-ordered a MSI Neo4)

just FYI :)

Yeah... I was going to order some AS5 and IDE cables from there one time... Shipping was more than double the price of the actual products.

And they will lower the shipping prices if you call.

I bought 4 sticks of ram and they wanted $18 f'in bucks to ship them. I called and bitched and got it down to $10...still too high but better.

i see myself ordering there less and less...for cooling and cables etc. i am always sticking with svc..just a few mins ago i ordered a few round ide cables (svc has some on sale for under a dollar, but i got the more expensive kind for $2:) .... shipping total was like 5,80 or so. I probably would have paid three times as much at newegg since a) the items (cables) are much more expensive and you pay $5 s/h for EACH item.

It sucks that there arent any other alternatives to newegg that will ship your product the next day and get it to your frontdoor in 2-3 days. Maybe thats why there shipping is more expensive because there not shipped by ground but by air.

Newegg sucks all the time. All I use them for nowadays is thier database. Once I find what I'm looking for I mwave or ZZF it. Cheaper almost always and faster too.

Agreed, I order my hardcore parts (mobo, cpu, hard drives) from newegg but orger all cables and other odds and ends from SVC.

Yeah Excaliber PC rocks. I don't see why not that many people use them. Their prices are outstanding and sevice is great. SVC is also very good for accessories (had problem with differintiating shipping and billing adresses but got it all clear with Mr. Lee Ellak :) ) Customer service at SVC is second to none. I ususally buy parts from ExcaliberPC, MonarchComputer, and SVC. No newegg for me, as they charge tax to Tennesseans.

Of course ZZF stock display is not nearly as accurate as Newegg's, so for low-stock items you're rolling the dice for whether you'll get it or be silently backordered.

It's worth a few dollars to me to be able to trust that an item is really in stock not "probably," and to know there is a 99% chance your order will ship the next day without even paying the rush fee.

Newegg customer service was great the one time I needed it, getting me a replacement shipment right away after FedEx lost my package, and arranging for (and paying for) pickup when FedEx finally found the package and delivered it to me a couple of weeks later.

I put it to you this way. I'm ordering 40 boxen @ $500 a shot. Not only was ZZF $45 cheaper ea. they had free ship on the whole shabang. Newegg wants $760 shipping.

Mwave. I called them at least 4x for an RMAs. Not only do they ship me a fedex label they have no restock fee yet. And thier mobo/cpu combos niether can touch.

Newegg used to be cool but not so much anymore. Ordered some Ballistix and took them two days to even ship it. Then dispite my history they still want restock.

However my price/performance buying habits generally keeps me away from Latest and greatest inflated goods..so you may have a point.

" what really pisses me off is their rediculous shipping charges."

LOL, first thing I thought of when I saw the title. It cost me as much to have 1 tube of AS5 and an Aluminum NB heatsink shipped, as it was for me to ship a 17" LCD monitor, packaged and insured to my Father. I also orderd a new NEC drive last week, and it took them 4 buisness days to get it from Southern CA to Central CA so the speed is going down too ( but that could have just been a fed-ex snafu ).

I have had really good luck with monarch as well.. I will have to give excaliber a look next time I am shopping.

I'm not a Newegg fan either but I still use them for a couple of reasons. I have my shipping address set to ship to my office. Most sites won't do that unless the billing address is the same as the ship-to, but I'm not sure about Excaliber. Another reason I still use them is because they have a decent selection and I've never had a problem with anything that I ordered being OOS later. The two things that I loath the most are the bogus shipping charges ($13 for three 80mm fans worth $9)and the BS reviews. There are a few posts from reviewers who occasionally slam a product, but I am beginning to suspect that these are planted to make them look believable. I've posted numerous reviews that were objective, not inflammatory in any way and they are never posted. It seems that the only posts that make it have 5 stars and close with "NEW EGG RULZ DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I am ready to make the change and may try Excaliber or ZZF. I used ZZF years ago when they were Googlegear and found their true Fed-X 2 day delivery faster than NE by at least a day. NE's Fed-X saver is a joke. It's not bad but it sure as hell isn't impressive.

Shrug, I used to use newegg all the time, but over the past year or so I've found the best deals and best customer service... Down the road at a local retailer.

I just dropped about 900 bucks at new egg yesterday, HD, PSU, 45 lb giant thermaltake case, proccessor, DVDRW, wireless keyboard and mouse, 3 piece speaker system with sub, sound card.

shippin was 40 bucks....and honesatly, i was surprised, just the case alone, plsu the heavy speaker setup box, so, i dont know...

I work in logistics though, and have worked in a high volume 1.5 million sq foot warehouse, bigger orders are actually easier than smaller ones.... its not the cost of them to shipp, thats all averaged out, its the hanlding that cost.....the act of sending a order filler on a 15 min journey through a warehouse, to find a single stick of ram, and actually find a box to fit it in, and do all the paperwork on..... hehee, id charge at least 6 bucks...

but yeah the system should be fixed, they make enough volume of business to be able to balance out the system ot take a loss on shipping averages on low priced items....

Yeah I can see your point. Its not really fair to compare them to me carting my a$$ down to Fedex/Kinkos. It's just frustrating paying as much for shipping as you do for the products themselves. All things considered, its still a helluva lot cheaper than buying at B&M local to me. Sometimes it is close to double the cost depending on the item, that is assuming I can even find the brand / model that I am looking for.

It seems "The Egg" is still growing and adjusting their prices accordingly.

Oh and has anyone actually called them and got the little automated response?

They actually say " Have an eggselent day"

Ugh, die please =-)

If you buy a lot of crap at once, shipping is pleasently low. But 5 bucks EACH for round cables? Do they not understand the concept of putting two in one box?

That I like.

Newegg made me paying shipping for my DOA Lite-On, Pay shipping back, and then pay a restocking fee..

They killed the Restock Fee but still got nailed with shipping.

I originally ordered the majority of my first computer build from Newegg. That way, I saved on shipping. There were other venders that was a bit cheaper, but I just didn't like going all over the web to find the best deals and still pay through the nose for shipping (I live in Hawaii). Newegg shipping was reasonable.

Later on after my first build, there were other items I wanted to get but again I went with Newegg because of their fast shipping to Hawaii and their prices were still competitive. Yes, I tried ordering from ZZF and Monarch, but I had some problems with their website accepting my payment (different shipping/billing address). At Newegg, that was never an issue. I'll stick with a good thing.

I think 90% of neweggs biz is from their sweet database/website. I mean it's easy to find items.

Just yesterday I wanted skt 754 mobos, w/ sound w/video intergrated. Simply put those criteria in on AMD motherboards search page and it kicked down 10-15 results I could choose from. Next each item has sweet photographs to see board layout etc. No other site is this clean. So I still cater there...just less.
