Why make your bed in the morning?

If your parents made you make your bed when u were young, what explanation did they give?

Does it teach a habit of discipline useful for other things when you grow up?

Or teaches you to be neat and not be a slob? (ie: compare co-workers desk. The people at the neat desks are usually more efficient.)

What's the point of your parents forcing you to make your bed?

I think it is part of that entire cleaning up for yourself and presenting a clean appearance. I just think it is sloppy as hell to have an unmade bed and denotes a sense of laziness.

I didn't do it for about 10 years and now I do again because I like looking at a neatly made bed throughout the day, and I like getting into a neatly made bed at night.

I do not like to see my bed messy, so I always make the bed when I wake up. I think I have OCD.

Wow, dude, may want to think about that a bit. Making your bed is not indicative of OCD.

Congrats on being normal?

I just organize and store my information differently. It doesn't mean I'm less efficient.

Presenting a clean appearance to whom? The only people who see my bed are the people who sleep in it.

Actually just the opposite. Making a bed will increase the breeding ground for all the microscopic nasties.

That being said, I still make my bed, because my mom always told me to.

I don't.

As I was growing up I started to create an ideal sleeping situation for myself. Started with a body pillow for between my knees (I sleep on my side) and then I eventually started doing away with sheets. Now my entire bed setup is a pillow, body pillow and a comforter.

One layer versus many is great to sleep in and couldn't be much quicker for straightening up. With that said, my wife makes my bed as she prefers our beds to look neat for whatever reason.

ha I remember that article. So making the bed is both unhealthy and time consuming
