Why Lian Li?

My Lian Li PC-82 has survived over 9 upgrades. Best damn case I've ever used. Of course, it was also the most friggin' expensive case I've ever spent money on as well.

I've been eyeing an Antec P180 for a long time (waiting out the Vista "breaking in" period), but after starting up on these forums, I'm intrigued by the Lian-Li's.

My biggest issue is that there's really no where in my area I can visit a "display case" so I can touch, play, and feel a Lian Li. Anyone know of a place I can do so?

And please, I sure some of us do the same to our cases and other hardware, but keep the crude references in check.

No CompUSA in your area? You can go see in person many popular cases there including Lian Li and Antec.

My PC65B was a terrible purchase... mainly due to the fact it has 4 80mm fans- I know now to never buy a case that has fans other than 120mm.

...but now I use a naked mobo tray on desk so it doesn't matter.

ok ill stick with off brand and antecs lian-li's may be nice but its no where near built as good as a antec.. i can sit,stand jump on my antec can you do that with your lian-li?

Beautiful cases, timeless and classy design. However, rather sobering too. No extra panache......no nice windows to show off your hardware or awesome cabling job. Shame they make you close it all up really. Why drop so much $$ on one only to hide it or put the case under a desk??? I soooooo wanna do another build with a sexy new Lian-Li......but I have neither the DEEP pockets for one, nor the desire to tuck it away under a desk for that price either........

Functional? You bet. Sturdy? For sure. Features? Abundant!!!

Overpriced? HELLYA.

The only reason people find them beautiful is that they employ the golden ratio derived the fibonacci sequence. Sheep I tell you sheep.

JK but look at the anniversary case and youll get it if you know the golden ratio.

Lian-Li's beauty is in its simplicity. It is elegant yet plain in a way. It is strong yet delicate looking. Lian-Li is for the mature true pc lovers. Who cares about windows and "ooh! Look through my window on my case so you can see all my PC bling!" I really hate those transformer toy looking pc cases. Ugh. And as for the guy who can jump on his antec case go ahead. I am sure you will dent it just like I would dent my Lian-li case if I was asinine to do so. But I bet I can get the dents out of my lian-li easier than your antec case.

my lian li pc-75 case is damn big, but worth it. i can easily have a lot of room for expansion, and plus no one else has a case like theirs. they are extremely well made and constructed.

they do sell cases with windows in the side panels (i have a PC-75 that came with one) and for the cases that don't have the window, you can buy it seperately.

Granted they are a no nonsense case, they specialize in making a case that cools well, is quiet, is light and has a sensible layout, along with an unpretencious look.

I like Antec, they're my second choice and the Model 830 i built my first rig in is still in service acting as my server to this day. They're very functional.

Granted folks critisize Lian-Li because the are boxey and straight forward, they are what thy are...and i'm glad of it...

I understand, but once you put in anything past an optical drive, say....in a PC-7 PLUS.....the front then looks cluttered. A fan controller for example......a nice classic case without a front door that exposes all the inconsistencies and non-classy stuff. If I were to get a fan controller that suits, I'm looking at spending some serious coin.

So then, are Lian Li cases only for the well-heeled? Are they not simply classy; rather, they're elitist?

How to get a Lian Li that won't look funny with some necessary accessories on the front, but at a reasonable cost? Would it not make more sense at that point to simply go with a nice Thermaltake or something somewhat classy but not overly expensive?

Seems LL is very "purist" and does not lend itself well to anything else.........?

it's all in the eye of the beholder...i like Lian-Li for their simplistic and unqualified functionality vs someone that would like something more astectically pleasing. Six of one, half dozen of the other. It's all good...

i really like the looks of LianLi, the shape, the color. They're just too damn expensive.

Speaking of which, how large is a PC-60 (II)? I like big cases

-I think the PC-60 dimensions are 8" x 17.7" x 19" (WxHxD), i have 2 of the PC-6077 (same demsions) thet're not for all tastes but look at the fact that i can put 2 optical drives in, a fan countrol and two hot swapable hdd racks right up front. I did spend the extra $$$ and get the optical drive covers so those are hiden, i've got a Zalman fan controller in each one (so i can put a few led fans in and the light can be seen and a Logysis fan control with a memory card reader built in along with sound in/outs. Looks pretty nice so far.

As far as not having a door, the door is a pain in the rear as far as i'm concerned, they either open the wrong way or you forget to open it when you're ejecting a cd/dvd, i like it better without the door. Just one mans opinion.

I'm very tempted on getting the PC-7 PLUS.......with a window......blasphemous, yes I know LOL.......I'm just concerned that my front will look funny with a Zalman fan controller and whatever else. PLUS one other thing.......my son is learning to walk and gets into EVERYTHING......and a case with a door will keep him out No door and pretty lights = restarts at the worst times when he decides to push a button!!

My other option is a Thermaltake Aguila.....door can open from either side, has a tasteful window, removable HDD cage, moveable drive bays, full filter, clean lines, classy, not too expensive.........am digging it as an acceptable alternative........?

Just got a Lian Li because I wanted a case that didn't look like I won it at a carnival. lights, windows, weird shapes, strange doors and more plastic than you know what to do with. It's like clothes: you can be trendy and replace every few months, or you can get yourself a pair of jeans and a basic short and blend in with the crowd. IT is a clean simple, sturdy case, not too big, I like it.

If you are looking for size, you want a Supermicro SC-750A or SC-760A. I had 3 of these for a short time, I think you can hit them with a truck and be ok, lots of room, lots of fans, and loud as hell! You want high cost, check them out, my Lian Li was 1/2 the cost!
