You know, the founding fathers grew and smoked a lot of weed. George Washington and Jefferson both grew, I believe.

They also had slaves, so obviously their judgement wasn't perfect.

they were servants, for one (and maybe I am related to some Black Franklins ), and not really labor slaves, and two... it wasn't illegal then and wasn't viewed negatively. The revolution to rid the country of slaves came with later thought.
I'm not proclaiming it was good they did, just that it shouldn't be a reason to hate on them.

And about your stoned drivers reference. Obviously they need a good and telltale way to determine if drivers are under the influence, and to make it illegal. Although in reality, every stoner I've encountered tended to be a better driver after they had toked up. :p I talked to them about it (been in the car and not knew they were stoned, but having followed them when they were stoned prior relaxed any anxiety, that and having been drinking, I needed a ride ;)), and they stated they had a sharpened mind while on the road, probably a paranoia thing.
I'm not advocating it, just giving a little insight. But I do realize it would almost guaranteed be made illegal to drive while high, and I would agree with it just because the few bad seeds would ruin it for the group, just like with drinking. How they do that though, will be interesting. As of now, no test is accurate to determine if they smoked that day even. The piss test seems to be the most accurate test for recent smoking.
Is there a blood test for extremely recent smoking?

Stoned drivers tend to drive excessively cautiously, because pretty much every white car looks like a police car.

Isn't that the truth. Although I have yet to see stoned drivers get into an accident.

I know a guy that rolled his car in the highway median because he dropped his bong.

Nobody was seriously injured, though.

Heck the United States government made child support legal and lets them break the US's own laws. I do not see any reason why pot should be illegal. Just think... crime rates can go down because all the petty busts on people with less than an ounce would all but come to a cease unless they have a accident like falling asleep behind the wheel or something. But for real, even a 'sober' person can do that.

Replace "bong" with "cell phone" or "ipod" and I'll bet you'd be describing quite a few other accidents that happened around the country at around the same time.

Anyway, with judgement that flawed even MJ can't keep you safe on the road. :p
