Why is the XBOX so great?

That couldn't be less true. I owned the DC and PS2, and I currently own a GC and high end PC. I am getting more enjoyment out of the Xbox than any of the other options.

The only thing "horrible" about the controllers is using them as an excuse. I agree that the first ones aren't very good, but the '-S' ones are awesome, not to mention a wealth of aftermarket options.

What is with the praise of MechAssault... I mean ya its fun... its pretty good... but I had SOOO much more fun playing MechWarrior 4 for the PC... a awsome joystick... good map.. and some online asskicking. I really dont understand it myself, I found MechWarrior 4 better, maybe Im alone in this, or just noone played MW4 on the PC.

Wrong. I have played the GC extensively and spent some time on the PS2 as well as my family/friends own these. I still like the Xbox better for the games I want to play. I don't trash on the GC or PS2 because they are cool systems, but I wouldn't buy one based on my EXPERIENCES with them.

Read the thread Mainframed posted. It's not supposed to be a MW clone just because it has "Mech" in the name. It's more of a FPS, which is better for online play imo anyway.

The XBOX and PS2 are both great consoles with great corporations behind them. Sony and Microsoft are two companies I'd work for minimum wage for any day. It all comes down to what kind of person you are, just like some people love milk and some people hate it, some people love PS2 and other people love the XBOX. Me, I like both. The Xbox has some exclusive games that are great and fun to play. Although the controller is a little too big for my hands the S-Controller solves that problem greatly. Myself owning a PS2 love the feel of the PS2 controller and like to play many of the RPG's and Racing Games(FFX, MetalGearSolid2, GT3, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry). Online gaming opens up so much possibilities. When I beat a game over and over and am bored with CPU players, online capabilites of the PS2 and XBOX make it possible for me to play against other highly skilled players and test my wits. There is only one thing that makes me a PS2 person a tad bit more, backward capablity. I can take all the games I bought for the PS1 and play them on my PS2 without having to switch between systems. I find myself playing FF7 so many times over and over. Although XBOX is a new system I hope Bill Gates also make the next console he makes backward compatible. If I had the money I would own both systems.

And have you given the XBox a chance? Guess not.

<-- has owned a GC, traded it for a XBox. Christmas of '01 had 2 weeks to play the XBox, PS2, and GC all day and night. The XBox should have blown up with all the hours we logged into it, the GC got moderate use, the PS2 got very little use (we were bored of it)

I TOTALLY agree with you, my brother. The backward compatibility is a HUGE feature on the PS2, since it helps keep PS1 owners from "jumping ship."

Although XBOX is a new system I hope Bill Gates also make the next console he makes backward compatible.

IMHO, if MS does NOT make XboxNext backwards compatibility with Xbox Gen 1 games, they will be shooting themselves in the foot in a BIG WAY. Same with...controllers, AV packs, mem cards, and the DVD Kit.

Agreed - XBox Next will be a failure if they don't. The controllers not so much since it wasn't too big of an issue with the PS1/PS2, and neither is the dvd kit. (I'm sure if they're going to have DirectTV (rumor) built in that they'll have dvd functionality built in as well, maybe this time without a remote or the XBox one could be compatible)

IT CONTAINS A HARD DIRVE and a full blown DVD drive, too. That makes up for most of your size right there. It's still a tight fit on the inside.

I'm with that other guy. I'm into HT stuff and I like the large size of the Xbox. It looks great with/in my HT setup. Unlike that purple little cube that i have to keep hidden

My cube is titanium and isn't placed near any of my other A/V equipment. With the wavebird, it doesn't have to.

Halo is still just 480P. Most of the games I've bought with "HDTV" stamped on the back are just 480P, or in some cases, the "cut scenes" are 1080, but the game itself is still just 480p.

I also have a PS2, and I like the graphics QUALITY better than anything I've seen on the XBox (Halo, MechAssult, GT2002, Unreal Championship, Splinter Cell ....). The XBox is OK, the games are OK ... so far, IMHO, nothing worth getting excited about graphically though.

I'm not much of a gamer, I do enjoy an occasional shoot 'em up now & then.

I don't have an XBox because there aren't enough games I want for it. I've played Halo, I've played DOA3. I have yet to see anything else that makes me want to buy the platform like Mario and Metroid did for the Gamecube. I have a PS2 because there were games I wanted to play on it. I have a Gamecube and PC for the same reason. There aren't games available for the XBox that make me want to buy one. DOA came close, but it's far too similar to the dreamcast verison.

Try pulling your head out of your ass. You're always spewing out ignorant belligerent comments. Is it at least possible that someone has a different opinion than you that is just as valid?
