Hey, I never claimed to emjoy crap games like Super Mario Sunshine.

And Halo SUCKS!! I don't know how or why everyone likes it, or why it was rated the best game.

I have yet to rent Splinter Cell and Mech Assault. Maybe they will change my opinion of the XBOX.

Re: games that actually push the XBOX to the limit...ever touch your heatsinks with the xbox on playing any game? Or divx for that matter?

Just cause you think it's all great, it's really not.

The same applies for you. Just cause you think it isn't great, it really is. ;)

I don't even own a console or play games. But your argument is stupid. :p

When you get to the guys in the alley you can throw a can downstairs to get one guy to go, then sneak through the bushes. (or hang on the ledge on the far side) Sneaking through the alley(s) is just a matter of shooting out the lights

Let me get this straight, there are several armed guards outside, and when suddenly one by one all the lights explode (silenced gun shooting them), they just stand there without sounding the alarm? Sounds like a really realistic game!

So, you don't like Mario or Halo, or... well... ANYTHING. What games do you like (on any platform)?

And what makes you think that just because you don't like Halo, that it "SUCKS"? If you don't like it, then that's your perogative. I'm certain that there are plenty of things that you like, that many others don't.

What's the point of this thread, besides showing off your immaturity in not understanding that different people have different ideas of what's good and what's not? You just sound bitter because others are (very much) enjoying what you seem unable to.

It's all a matter of taste. The top three consoles are as good as each other, you just need to pick your poison.

Although the XBOX is bit big and totally unecessary if you have a PC.

With a name like Sjoerd I wouldn't expect you to understand. It's easier playing it than it is trying to explain it to some sarcastic flamebaiting tool like yourself. And point out where I said it's a really realistic game or anyone in this thread for that matter. @$$hat.

Oh, another "XBox is just a PC" tool. A PS2 and GC is totally unnecessary too - after all, they just consist of a CPU, motherboard, and RAM as well. :p

And what has my name got to do with it?

All the commercials here hammer on it being so realistic, just wanted to know if those were just lying. I have not played the game, but might want to in the future. If it does not have any realism on this point I don't really see how it is different from the average FPS.
That's what I disliked about Hitman 2 on the PC too, you could just kill everyone in sight on most levels, making you a mass murderer rather than a sneaky hitman, and you'd still go through. On some levels if you killed 29 guys, and the last surviving one would sound the alarm, you'd fail, although there would not be anyone for him to warn anymore anyway.

I will not even consider buying an XBox until they finally release XBox Live over here anyway, and that will take a few more months. And even then I'll first wait for feedback, to see if the quality of the service here is good too. (And if there are games I really want to play, which I can't get on my PC)

P.S. With a screenname like 'Ragingbitch' I guess it can only be expected from you to insult people for no reason.

I don't call a PIII, nForce 1 based mobo, an IDE HardDisk and slapping an extra vertex shader onto a GF3 "custom hardware", do you?

Now point me to the parts of the other two consoles that have a direct relationship to the same parts in your PC....

Not raging now, are we Bitch?

Admittedly though, you can't get games like Halo on the PC (although I know it was meant to be released on the PC).

Can you play Warcraft III on the XBox? The variety in games is better for PCs, and the number of games is higher. There are other FPSes, also good looking ones. I value gameplay higher than the look of the game anyway. Unless you got several friends with XBoxes you can't play LAN games either, so that would mean playing Halo alone, or with that Gamespy tunnel stuff.

The definition of a console gaming system is a system dedicated for game playing on a TV. So it really does not matter if it's hard core custom hardware or it's direct use of readily available hardware. In engineering thinking, whatever get the job done. There's just something about console gaming system that's different from PC gaming.

Xbox has a lot of games that weren't written for PC. Sure those games could have been written for PC, but so can all the PS2 and game cube games. So there really is no point arguing on that. Some games are better on console and some games better on PC. That's it.

...and Xbox does alter the architechture quite a lot. The whole memory mapping is changed so more bandwidth, and Nvidia card integration is also custom designed. GameCube uses ATI and there really isn't all that different from M$ using Nvidia cards. All of them are embedded systems designed to handle games.

HALO is a great game, even if it's one year old already. Splinter Cell is very cool game and according to developers, it can't really be done on PS2. Not sure about GC.

Xbox live is cool in the sense that you can talk to each other. This is especially important in games like Ghost recon where you don't communicate just to trash talk. I haven't played that yet, but after SOCOM on PS2, I can never play these kind of games without talking to my teammates.

Although apparently, they're going to try. I do recall hearing that the PS2 architecture doesn't lend itself to the Splinter Cell lighting mechanics, though.

The SOCOM ads they've been running on TV lately are hilarious.

That's true..... Only if you can ignore every FPS game in the PC market... Halo really is of the "meh" quality.

Can you play SegaGT 2002 on PC? Nope. Can you play MechAssault on PC? Nope. Can you play any GOOD fighting game on PC? Nope.

This all depends on your personal preference. I like my Xbox for the games listed above, plus alot of others. The variety of PC games is there, but then you have to ask yourself, how many of those games are actually good. Look at the Sims, its one of the best selling games in history but I don't consider it a good game.

I have my PC, Xbox, and Gamecube. With the amount of games being released, I don't bother with the regular fodder that comes out. I have to play what I think is the best stuff out. So for my PC, I could mostly call it my $2000 Battlefield 1942 player. You play alot of WC3? Well, you play more on PC than I do simply because you don't have the option to take in more of the games that come out.

Stop playing it on easy. On medium and hard, guards react instantly to any lights shot out or any shadows.

The Xbox's similarities to a PC are there. Its not really direct as there are several architechure designs internally that would cripple it as a "real" PC. That doesn't matter to the hackers as they'd rather think its cool to run emus or divx's.

Oh, and its not a P3. Its a Celeron with a 8gb hd and a very strangely designed GF3. Its not so direct as you would think.

I think the Xbox does a admirable job as a gaming box. More often than not, the people that bash it are the same people that hate MS for making the most popular OS around, or the people that run a *nix system because they think its 1000x better than windows in every concieveable way.

I didn't want an Xbox when it came out. I started playing on that had Dead or Alive 3 setup on it and thought to myself, its still not worth buying for 2 games (Halo being the other). And then Dead to Rights came out, then SegaGT, and now Splinter Cell, Mortal Kombat, MechAssault, NHL2k3, ect. ect..

If you're unwilling to spend some quality time with the system, I suggest you don't even comment in this thread.

Wrongo.

It's also coming out for PC in a few months, and I think GC as well.

I have to agree. It seems much more realistic than the EA NHL series. I just got my Xbox live up and running and am excited about getting online and playing. :D
