I own all of the new consoles, GameCube, XBOX and PS2, so I can talk.
GameCube isn't modded for obvious reasons. It is the only console I buy games for. It is the only console with original games such as Metroid, Mario, Zelda, etc.
PS2 is modded (painful Magic2 mod, my eyes still hurt). Used to buy games, but now that all the great ones (MGS2, Onimusha) are going to be rereleased with more for the XBOX, no reason. Neat, original games, FF series, anything Square (who already stated that they will make GC games in the future again).
XBOX hack was incredibly easy. Got the matrix, threw it in, it was golden. That wasn't enough. I didn't like any games, so I flashed the TSOP, and took the matrix out. Sold it. Not worth the money when I can't enjoy the games.
I figured XBOX Live! would spice up the XBOX scene for me a little.
That is so boring.
So far there are no good XBOX games out, that aren't already out for a different console.
Sure, it has these great specs, but really, they aren't so great. Think about it. If a MAC with dual 1GHz processors can equate to an Intel dual Xeon of 2GHz, then obviously processing power has nothing to do with it. That is what AMD is trying to show you all anyways.
The best looking XBOX game to date would have to be any movie I'm watching on it. The games aren't very pretty.
The most fun XBOX game to date would have to be any Atari, SNES or NES game I'm emulating on it. The XBOX games all suck.
So basically, what makes the XBOX so great? There seem to be no games with any stories or complicated thinking, other than Shenmue 2, and of course MGS2, which is a rerelase.
I feel as if I've wasted $250 (XBOX + XBOX Live! + 30 minutes total hassle putting new hardware / modding system) because it isn't fun.
Right now it's running my webserver and ftp server. Can't think of anything else useful for it, until I wanna watch a divx movie.
