Why is soccer not more popular here?

Because all they do is move a ball from one area to another in an attempt to get the ball in a certain area. Who would want to watch other people do that?
 
Because there's more popular local sports avaliable. Not sure if the US have a professional local league but that could be a big factor of why it's not popular over there.
 
Because it's a snorefest.
Why do you think the european fans get totally sh!tfaced and get in fights during games?

i was dissapointed in that also when i came to this country... nobody really appreciates a decent pick up game here...

I'm sure some has to do with the knowledge of the game. For example I used to think baseball was boring but when you realize everything that is going on with defensive positioning, pitch calling, etc. it makes it more exciting.

for me, with soccer there is no real change of strategy or positioning, you just try to get the ball in the goal and that's it. it's ok to play and good exercise but extremely boring to watch b/c nothing happens.
