Why is so little being spent on embryonic stem cell research.

Embryonic stem cell research has more potential in curing cancer, blindness, paralysis, and genetic disorders than any other research we have. There is so much potential here, yet almost no one in the world is commited to significant funding for it. Why? This could lead to the cure for most forms of paralysis and blindness in the next decade if we spend resonable amount of money on it. Cancer could be a thing of a pass to thinks to embryonic stem cell research. We just need the funding to make this happen.

Some of the methodologies employed in the research have political, moral, ethical, and legal issues associated with it that could have negative ramifications.... besides the positive and obvious health cures...

Because it may be a cure, and there is no money in a cure, just in pills to keep control on your problems. If they find a way to fix it, they cant keep racking in the billions off you for your now better and dont require pills anymore 😉

IMHO if you know someone with cancer, paralysis, ..., etc. And you are against this, then you must not want them to get better. 🙁

Your name is 'statsmand' and you have yet to provide a monetary figure to support your argument. How much is being spent? How does that relate to other expenditures? What would be a 'reasonable amount of money? Where are the statistics that show for a fact that 'embryonic stem cell research has more potential in curing cancer, blindness, paraylsis, and genetic disorders than any other research we have'?.

Because it is very controversial. Even though billions are probably already spent on it.

Lots of deceases could be wiped out even AIDS but people will not like the cure or the way we could get rid of them so they are still around.

The cure is possibly more controversial than stem cell research.

What is pathetic is some countries like Germany have banned this kind of research. Even Poland and Malto too. I thought Europe was beyond this crap.

IIRC it is just the government isn't spending heavily in it. All companies and investors are free to spend and experiment with it as much as they want though.

How do you know it is crap? What proof do you have?

I don't know the exact figure but less than a billion a year is being spent by world governments. 🙁

Why should the governments spend all of the money? I'm sure plenty of private (READ: More Efficient) companies are already doing this on their own.

governments? why should they spend money on it?
private companies/people have more wealth than all the governments combined, why not get onto their cases?

I feel that is an uninformed statement. Just because they do not think the same way you do does not make you right. There are many different points of view out there and you should consider them all.

Because it has the potential to save tens of billions of lives.

I am horrified that people still have doubts about the wonders of embryonic stem cell, even after all it has already done.

Read this slowly. How do you know it has the potential to save tens of billions of lives? Are you trying to troll or something? How many billions of people do you think are running around the world blind, paralyzed, etc?

See, now I can tell you are trolling because I guarantee you cannot come up with a single thing it has 'already done'.

There aren't that many people alive on Earth yet. That may be a good thing.
