Why is SNL Still a Thing?

Thing is, I lived that. When I was working in Groton CT (birthplace of the the Grinder which became the Submarine sandwich), outside the GD shipyard there were all these food street vendors and little cafes. I told one of my co workers who happen to be from the Bronx and was of Italian descent, that I just got a turkey and capicola sub. He said you guys, it's Gabagol. Guys last name was Iciafano. He use to say pronounce it 'I see a fan o".

I had a coworker (jersey Italian) once try to explain gabagol to me and it made no f'ing sense honestly.

Least I thought it he was saying gabagool, but described it as some cheese... Lol.

Didn't want to start a new thread. Just wondering what ya all thought of the SNL opening season 2021?

The Joe Biden character was a bust and certainly not to the level of Alec Baldwin's Donald Trump. I don't know what they are going to do because they will have to do better than THAT. Skits we just so so. SNL should have began this season with an entirely new cast, just replace everybody and give some new comedians a try. I thought that was what a show like SNL was all about? Trying something new?

SNL is still a thing.
Some sketches are funny. some sketches suck. Just like it was during the 70's 80' and 90's.
Weekend Update is entertaining and pretty reliable.
Nobody gives a shit about 40 year old sketches anymore.

Pretty much exactly this for it's entire run. Weekend Update is as good or better than it was in the past.

If you missed the new Trump character, you missed a treat.
This guy has the voice and vocal mannerisms of Donald Trump down pat. If one closed their eyes you'd sweat it was Donald Trump up there speaking.

This should be fun. It's like SNL can make Trump say whatever they want and get away with it. I can only imagine how thoroughly pissed off Donald Trump will be over this new Donald Trump character. And Trump thought Alec Baldwin was bad news.

Vocally he sounds too gravelly and insufficiently camp. Trump is very, very camp. They get the rambling stream-of-conciousness absolutely right though.

Yes and no. Just like SNL. John Candy was getting his characters down, which made it interesting. Blowed up good!
