What irritates me is people who provide information with absolute confidence when they don't know what the hell they're talking about, and they know they don't know it. I've worked with asshats like that before, and I don't know what their issue is. If somebody asks me something, I'll provide the information to the best of my ability, and the accuracy approximately weighted so they can use their own judgment. That's not to say I give infallible advice, but I try to be accurate. The other people give the impression of knowing when they're clueless, and that's how fuckups happen.

I see this all the time at uni :(

wow like WTF?!? You know it's wrong yet still go on and have balls to say you are pissed when other's correct you.

Being one of a high IQ and knowledgebase I really understand your kind. Seeing my first post about how "it's a problem" makes me want to vomit.

Ummm....Mr high IQ....read my post. I said I got mad at myself when I caught myself..

We really do need a gimp tank.....

I have no trouble admitting I'm wrong. I'm openly self-deprecating, and make it a point to stress how stupid it is that people won't admit fault everytime I do it. I actually overdo it most of the time.

no, I read your post. I do not understand at any fucking time you had any doubts.

Getting 'mad' at yourself I think is just your little acknowledgment of defeat.

Your silly gimp tank is just a circle jerk exerting their authority on members. It's no different then 99% of other forums. Once you learn to post in forums that are seriously moderated to an unbiased opinion you will learn these ropes that time spent nor post count really matter when one is being an asshat.

Are you drunk or just incoherent?

I always thought it was noble, for lack of a better way to put it, to not just admit you're wrong but try to gain something from the realization. Unfortunately, what I've found is that people don't react in kind to this gesture usually, rather, they exploit it. My soon-to-be-ex-wife is very much like this and it made for an extremely frustrating marriage and what is now a devastating split. What I have gained from this recurring disappointment is that I'm now using it as one of several barometers I measure people against to decide whether or not I will invest anything in them. I'm new at this, though, so I can't comment on whether or not it's successful.

Mildly off topic but it annoys the fuck out of me to no end when a person is exonerated of a crime through DNA, eye witness, other person confesses, and what ever else. Then the prosecutor is interviewed and they'll be all nope still guilty. Makes me want to puke blood.

It isn't hard to admit it unless you thought you were right, you had decent logic backing it, but then the opposing party suddenly brings up very good evidence contrary to your point during the conversation that you hadn't considered before. Its very easy to pass it up as and ignore it and continue on especially in the heat of the argument...

I don't think I'll ever understand why this is so hard. Its one of my big character flaws...when I catch myself trying to prove a point that I know is wrong, I get severely pissed.

What the heck is so hard about admitting that you are wrong?????
With all the experience you have in this area you'd think you'd be ok with it by now.

He somehow managed to get banned from TTFN forums?

Well unlike this forum nobody over there liked him. Wait, nobody likes him here either DOH

Well that's not entirely true, I don't dislike him, I'm just indifferent towards him.

Yup, a major point of conflict between my fiancee and myself. We are both this way and seemingly argue our respective points to almost literally death sometimes.

I am learning to think sometimes.

Human ego

This.

Our behavior is guided by our ego, or in other words, our self construct. This is made up of our experiences, beliefs, thoughts, memories, knowledge. Our coherence of our worldview comes from this. A coherent worldview is very critical to healthy functioning as it gives us direction and brings confidence in action. In incoherent worldview is the state of depression and anxiety.

Say you are given a contradicting piece of evidence to your worldview that makes your ego incoherent, then this is when one would have the tendency to hold onto their old beliefs despite the new contradicting evidence. This is why it's almost impossible to change someone's beliefs in religion regardless of how ridiculous you can make them look.
But it is also possible that the contradicting piece of evidence would bring coherence to the worldview. Then in these cases, the new piece of evidence would be much more readily assimilated.
