It took me a long time to get them in the first few times. I had to have eye drops that numbed my eyes the first time, but it does get really easy after a month. Mine are usually pretty comfortable for the forst 5 or 6 hours, and after that my eyes get really tired, like I have been up for 16+ hours, so I go through a lot of eye drops. Eye allergies suck with contacts sometimes, when bad air makes my eyes water. Overall I think they are pretty good though, but they make me being to eye eye surgery. Maybe in a few years.

With the contacts in I don't even feel the eye drops hit the eye, its just like the eye is magically wet again, its not like putting in eye drops with out contacts, where I blink a lot and it sometimes is bothersome.

I just started wearing soft contacts yesterday, and it was easy from the get go. Takes me a minute or two to put them in/take them out.

20 seconds in or out, and I don't need any light or mirrors to do so.

Been wearing contacts for 8 years. It takes a while to get used to. I remember back when I first got them and the doctor wanted me to put them in infront of him, after about 20min I said "F@K you I'll figure it out on my own." I did.

Also, I don't know about the whole toss them after 2 weeks or a month thing. I usually wear mine until they get blurry or ripped. Usually a 2-week pair will last me around 2 months. Never had any eye problems.

Also, another stupid question. With Soft contact lenses, how can you tell which way to wear them? I mean which side should be towards the eye. I know you look for a "cup" type shape, but both sides give the same shape.

mine (Acuvue 2) has a "123" on the outside, if it's the correct way, it will look correct, otherwise it will be backwards

I tried wearing contacts for 2-3 weeks, but they always seemed to bother me, especially after wearing them for an hour or so, anyone have suggestions, as to why I couldn't "get used to them" like everyone else seems to be able to, or a brand of contacts for people like me?

Contacts were almost natural for me. I used to touch my eyes as a kid (seriously), so my eyes were never really that sensitive to touching when I first got my contacts. At my optomitrists office, I put them in in less that 30 seconds on my first try - it wasn't very hard. The hardest thing for me was getting used to them "moving" every time I shifted my eyes, but other than that, I've never had a problem.

Also, I have switched to the long wear contacts, so I sleep in them and don't take them out for up to a month (although, I did that with my Accuviews also). I'm supposed to clean them daily, but I don't. I use the cleaning solution as eyedrops in the morning, but that's it - no other maintenence. I don't really have a problem with them drying out.

It's not hard at all. The first time I put them in it took about 10 seconds to pop them in each eye. Now it's about 3. 15 years later and I'm still wearing them every day.

Wow. I never heard of long wear contacts. Can you shed some more light on the subject.

Many companies make extended wear contacts, talk to you optomitrist about it. They are more permeable to air than regular contacts, so your eyes can breate more easily. I wouldn't reccomend them if you have sensitive eyes, though, because when you wake up your eyes will be kinda crusted over - very painful if you have sensitive eyes.

it does have a cup like shape. when they're inside out, they look like this (kinda) -\_/-

well you know the idea.

when they're the correct way, it will be rounded all the way around. when its inside out, the edges point out.

i wore those acuvues for like a week, and i really missed that 123 to check if they were inside out the first few days.

My contacts look different if it's inside out. I may have worn them inside out a few times but I think you get used to putting them on the right way. I think the fear is having something in your eye and having to touch it once in awhile putting them on or taking them off. Like what everyone has said before, you just get used to it.

Eventually your optic nerves will be used to being traumatized daily. For some people it just takes longer. After a week of wearing contact lenses I could not tell that they were in my eyes. I've been wearing the soft lenses for about 12 years now

Hold open your eye lid with your left hand, stretch it back so that it won't close. Place the lens(cup side out) on your right hand index finger. Stick finger in eye. Move your eyes around a little bit and then release your eyelid. Repeat for other eye.
