Why is it called football when you hardly kick the ball?

Because American football, Rugby football, and European football (soccer) are all variations of the same game.

There are only 3 basic types of games involving both the use of a ball and opposing teams -- football types, tennis types, and baseball types.

actually, soccer started out as a sports where the balls were prisoners heads.

I was/am aware of that. It was typically played after a battle by the winning army. Polo has the same origins but was played by the mounted calvary.
American football evolved from European football (through Rugby), and the ovoid shape of the ball came from the use of inflated pigs bladders as the ball.

Football.
Think about it. The offense controls the ball and moves it towards a goal at the far end of the defense's territory. Basketball is soccer played with the hands instead of the feet.
