Why is In N Out always packed?

I'm sure everyone has seen how it is and can get. Cars lining up around the block for the drive thru. I must admit their burgers are good but they aren't that good. Never really understood why it's so popular.

Probably something similar to the Krispy Kreme nonsense that happened a few years ago. I remember people camping out in front of KK for several days just to be one of the first to get one.

I'd rather make my own burger and skip the donuts.

Well...from what I've obersrved, its one of the few burger joints at night that actually doesn't warm up their burgers and taste fresh.

Lucky for me, there are mom and pop joints that stay open late and cook to order.

Yea, but if you go to any of the other burger places at around the same time it's never that pack. The one I just back from was so packed that it was backing up traffic at the intersection.

Because people are sheep who gravitate to the larger fastfood outlets rather than eat a better burger at a "Mom and Pop" type restaraunt.

The same reason people are willing to wear shirts that are basically ads for the clothing company or drink Coke but say they despise Pepsi. They want to feel like a good team member so they decide to like whatever is most popular, or at least whatever is most popular amongst their clique. That way when they're all sitting down talking about what burgers or soda they like they feel good about themselves for liking what everybody else likes.

Decent quality food, served fresh, not kept under warming lights. Fries made fresh on-site, rather than frozen ones, etc. Definitely not the best burger you can get, but IMO, better than most.

That's my reason. Also add to that they always speak and understand english which is great for a fast food place. Usually the service is good too, even if they are backed up and it takes a while to get through the line. I guess that's what happens when you pay your employees more than the competition.

For the employees, they pay well. $2-$3/hr over what the other fast-food joints pay. They have very little turn-over here. For fast-food, it's a good place to work...(comparably)

Here's a summary of half of the replies in this thread:

"BGGGARAAAAGRGGHH I HATE THE ESTABLISHMENT, DOWN WITH THE MAN! YOU ARE ALL SHEEP IF YOU ENJOY IN N OUT BURGER BUT I DON'T MIND IF YOU EAT AT MCDONALDS OR BURGER KING ALL THE TIME BRAARRGGGHHHH"

Let's have a reality check. Bashing In N Out Burger seems to be just as "trendy" as eating there.

If you want a good burger, don't go to a fast food place. That should go without saying.
If you want a good fast food burger, go to In N Out Burger, because they're the best of the fast food burger chains.
If you don't care about the food quality, go anywhere else

Fresh fast food that tastes good =

Because there's one In n Out for every 16 McDonalds, so each one has 16 times as many people there. Plus, the food is better.

That may be true, but I say In N Out can handle lines way better than McDonalds can.

Maybe because since they make their food fresh.......... it takes longer to make?

So........ longer line ups.

Cheers.

I'd say they have the best burger meals for about five bucks and they have the best service by far. They also don't have one on every corner like their competition, so chances are there is only one In-N-Out within a few miles of your neighborhood.

Yep, they send out people to the long drive throughs to take orders ahead of time.

Of course, people who work there always smell like meat... Makes me take another shot before having enough guts to be an idiot in front of a cute girl.
