Handing over our ports to a group linked to the 9/11 attacks.

A miserably failed social security reform plan.
4.5 years without capturing Bin Laden.

It is because of two things:
The fact of Republican control of both houses of Congress and the Presidency, the implementation of party discipline from the President down and the 9-11 boost that gave this President extraordinary powers to pass his legislation intact. This has given us the most changes under any President since early in the Johnson administration.
The second thing has been the extraodinary failure of almost everything the Bush agenda has tried. From the Iraq war to the ruinous tax cuts to the elimination of civil liberties. There has been more change in the U.S. in the last 6 years than in the previous 30 years.
And once again almost nothing has worked out.
Plus the incredible problems we have put off whose bill will come due soon.

It's not a light switch, democracy doesn't happen over night. We probably wont see it in our lifetime in the middle east. But as the old proverb goes, every single journey starts with a single step.
Look at the US. The Treaty of Paris was signed on September 3, 1783, ratified on January 14, 1784, Washington took office on April 30, 1789. There was a lot of turmoil in between 1784-1789. Each state had its own laws and currency, states wouldn't give any military support to eachother, etc. Finally there was a big step towards unity and the democracy that makes the US the strongest democracy in the world, when the Constitution was written in 1789. Not to say that it was smooth sailing from there on in but it is just an example that democracy evolves, it doesn't just happen over night. Couple that with Iraq and Afghanistan being in some of the most unstable areas of the world.
Look towards the positive instead of the negative of every situation. See the light, and not the darkness. The darkness is the easy way. It's easy to blame Bush for the small things he does wrong, than to accept his ideals and defend them and trudge forward to create a better future. This is not a question about us putting our values upon other people, but it's more of a means to stop the powder keg from growing. If you disagree that there's a powder keg, you're obviously not seeing the whole picture. The middle east has the makings of WWIII.

The whole point of my conversation with you was to get a grasp on what you were trying to explain in your signature, and you go off on some childish nonsense. Expect and respect people having other opinions and beliefs. While I do think Bush Jr. is a lousy president, I'm not sure what you mean by everything is his fault? Everyone in the thread is finding issues that can reasonably be pinned on him, but I'm wondering what exactly you were referring to when you started this thread?
PS. Clinton was attacked much more viciously than Bush, but proved more cleaver (and dare I say honest?), more difficult to pin down and took more responsibilities for his short comings. I recall Filegate, Travelgate, Whitewater, FuturesTradingGate... misuse of state troopers... Jennifer Flowers, Monica Lewinski (sp) and the list goes on and on. These were all Republican initiatives to smear the sitting president that only polarized the nation. I feel that things would have been much easier for Bush Jr. if this polarization had never taken place.
