<<Lynx all the way baby!>>

...LOL

IE for me as well. Netscape 6 is pretty, but that's about it. The Mozilla version is better, and that's what I use in Linux.

*****STOP!!! STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND SLOWLY BACK AWAY FROM THE KEYBOARD, SIR!!!*****

I tried it in beta when it first came out, since I haven't tried Netscape since the 1.0 - 3.0 days...Used to use it over IE for the longest time, but then IE got its chit together...

I did, however, smile when you said it's the "the web browser to use in the new millennium!" :) ...NOT!

Users would need a computer upgrade just to run netscape 6. In my machine, it is as slow to load as Photoshop 5.5.

Whats with all this Netscape? Where did I mention Netscape? :)

All I said was that I despise sites that are specifically made for one special browser, be it Netscape, IE or whatever, as long as a site follows open standards(read W3C), Im happy, and whatever browsers cant display it right are at error.

Netscape 6.0 totally sucks! See what happens when you remove from your system! I'll stick with 4.76 as IE has to much garbage.

So?
Does that mean its entirely forbidden to comment on something not directly related to Netscape?
Read my posts before commenting them, please, I dont think its a whole lot to ask.

You see..... part of the reason I used Netscape was that my IE5 couldn't load pages. I am having a weird problem here. I am using cable, I am conneted to the internet and when I opened IE5, it would say detecting proxy settings, then connecting to site 64.209.134.33 and then it wouldn't load my homepage (yahoo.com) no matter how long I wait for it. I have tried using different settings for IE5, such as disabling proxy server, etc.......

What is wrong with my IE?

have you tried the "repair" option in add/remove programs for IE5 yet?
if not try it - if that does not work upgrade to 5.5 and see if that helps :)
most of us are running IE without any problems..must be something with your settings etc?

Errr, I am using Win 2000 now. I went to the control panel and to add/remove programs, add/remove windows components, but I don't see anything that said repair.

Ah...I'm not familiar with Windows 2000 at all. :(
In 98/SE/ME when you choose to "remove" IE you get an option to repair/remove/restore

Sorry, but IE is not an option under linux, praise it as much you like. Opera 5 and NS 4.7x is still way to go... IMHO Opera is even faster than IE. Pages made only for NS or IE sucks ass.

If you want Netscape to load as fast as IE, just put a shortcut in your startup folder and press ctrl+N when you need it open! :)

The reason I use netscape is becuase I web surf occasionally and dont like the idea of waiting around for 30+ seconds every boot up for software I dont need, Use 98lite and get IE unintegrated from windows and when you do need to surf, open it up.

i have not tried 6.1, but 6.0 was not to my liking... though i did choose not to install all those extra crap which comes with communicator (from AOL) which is a step up from 4.x

oh, and there was an option to include java2 support (applets that is) =)
