Why is Dr Pepper still not considered to be a bigtime soda?

It's kinda strange, even though Dr Pepper is incredibly popular, I'm still offered pepsi or coke, sprite or 7-up (even though I think that Dr Pepper is more popular than the latter). Most of the parties I go to are also well-stocked with Pepsi and Coca-Cola, but no Dr Pepper.


What's the deal?

I love Jack in the Box Dr. Pepper.

It has to do w/ marketing. Coke pays X airline a certain amount of money so X airline only serves Coke during their flights. Just way of marketing your brand/product.

Dr Pepper is my favorite soda. if i want something sweeter, i like Mr Pibb.

i like Jack in the Box Dr Pepper and McDonalds Mr Pibb.

Denny's recently started stocking Dr. Pepper on tap. Its awesome.

And.. the reason dr pepper isn't considered popular: "diet cherry vanilla doctor pepper".. can you think of a longer, more complicated name?

Not rare, just localized to certain areas. I know it's in parts of Reading, PA.
