Japan and Germany seem to be going forward while Detroit is moving back, retro style.
Mustang, GT, Charger, Challenger, Camaro.

I though it was cool at first, but it's getting old already, pun intended ;)

I like it.

After the 80s/early 90s era of anemic cars we're finlly getting balls again.

I for one welcome our new horsepower overlords.

I like it. I can see myself in a Charger or Mustang, although i probably won't. I like Japanese car too much. But i like the variety, and it's good that American cars are distinguishing themselves.

LOL amazing how 3 of us likes it, but don't think the Big 3 will succeed with it.

Germany isn't going forward. Bangle is the devil, Audi is too conservative and VW is just a cheaper crappier Audi. Mercedes makes a couple cutting edge cars but they also make some real dogs too. Porsche is well...Porsche. Except for that stupid SUV they still make some sweet cars...of course Porsche has been milking that 911 for what? 50 years? Talk about retro...they never left it.

That said,

Mustang=Hot
GT=VERY HOT
Charger=bloated POS...not hot and not retro (might as well call the 1987 Chevy Nova retro)
Challenger=Meh, if it doesn't cost more than $35k I'll be surprised
Camaro=Too little too late

I dont really care for the retro styling. I hate how the ford mustang looks now, the 2004 models were awesome looking.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Chevy, Ford, and Dodge are bringing back the mullet one retro (muscle) car at a time.

Also for the dodge charger, why did they make it 4 door? the orignal one far as I know, was 2 doors.

See, I think the new ones look much better than the 2004 models. The chassis sure as hell is a step up. Ford did it right with the new Mustang GT. They kept costs down on it (made the interior too cheap IMO) but it is a hot looking car, it performs and it isn't overpriced.

This new batch of cars has actually made me excited about American cars. This hasn't happened before.

Challenger is on my very close watch list. I'd love to own one of those in a few years if it goes as it seems.

I dont hate it but I do dislike it. Recycling ideas sucks. Get some balls and build something new for a change. The reason us car companies are losing market share is because they are getting so stagnant andi'm tired of it. Seriously I fro one dont want a 4000lb "Muscle Car" as your offer to me as your "sports car". That's bs, i can have better performance with better mielage and a helluva better handling from say 1980lb elise versus your giant bricks.

It's time that they stop drawing my parent's generatino and start making cars fro my generation. If I wanted to drive my dad's car, I'll get a original which has got history, originiality and soul versus the new "retro", we're totally out of ideas so i'll make a souless copy of something successful and make it bloated and disgusting while i'm at it to make a quick buck cars.

Less weight, more effiency and handling and speed is where we should be heading. The US car companies are going the complete other way.

It's like having a original apple I versus a remake, a imatation apple I peopel sell, the original is well, original and historic , the remake would just be a disgusting pos.

Because they wanted to fvck it up. They are holding on to that stupid brand identity butt ugly grill and obviously they listened to some marketing idiots when it came to the number of doors they put on the car.

That's just the thing.
Are you going to be just as interested when they release the next generation model 5 years later if it's another retro-remake?

I think they can only capitalize on this once.
Ford started it and the rest are following suit since seeing the success of the Mustang.

About time they went REALLY retro, and built a solid family sedan with a V8, RWD, maybe even a full frame, huge trunk, room to work inside the engine bay, serious towing ability, roomy interior... yeah, all that for $20,000. Wagon option that can fit a 4'x8' sheet of plywood with the tailgate closed for $2,000 more. I wouldn't give a damn what it looked like!

Ford started it and the rest are following suit...

Chrysler started it with the PT Cruiser.

it's called a station wagon. I though those were still around like the suburu outback and stuff. And those that evolved beyond wagons went to small suvs. wouldnt either work?

You can fit a 4'x8' sheet of plywood in any of those, and close the tailgate? V8, RWD for $22,000?

FX45 is small-medium for a suv gut has a V8, RWD(based no a stretched 350z platform) and holds a 4x8 piece of plywood. a lot more than $22k but so would any sizeable v8 rwd be.

Is that $22,000 in 2006 dollars, or 1970 dollars?

I like it. The whole time we've been asking "Why can't GM be more like Toyota?" and "Why can't Ford be more like Honda?" etc. Detroit's FINALLY found a way to be different, while making us WANT their cars at the same time!!! Now once they get quality and fit and finish on par with the others, I'll be buying American again.

respectfully I disagree. You are happy driving non discript small engine foreign clones.

These cars are hot....they resemble the original with much more styling.

You like foreign, if detroit made a car that gave you a bj everytime you turned the key, you would still by foreign.

Anyboby think of a foreign car that had 2-tone paint?
