Why is craigslist so ugly?

It does exactly what it needs to do.

I'm sure if someone wanted to volunteer to create something they might hear you out though.
 
What's so ugly about it? It's all text. There's no banners, and he's not making any money from the site. It's all coming out of his pocket i think.

Ebay owns like 50% of it now. Thye pumped a huge chunk of cash to the owner.

IMO, their format hasn't changed over the years, so it's still easily accessible for those who aren't up to date w/ the latest browsers, PDA's and the like Shawn. 🙂

I don't remember exactly, but it was in the millions. He was saying how he wasn't going to change his lifestyle though blah blah blah. Yeah right.
 
The guy that started Craigslist, Craig Newmark, is speaking at a guest lecture at Cranbrook for those of you around SE Michigan. Thursday 7:30PM...should be cool.

And I'm guessing that the guy is worth probably a few hundred million now.

Lynx is amazing. But other websites manage to look good while maintaining compatibility, like deviantart.com and wikipedia.org (If I remember correctly).

honestly, I love craigslist b/c it even looks the same on my phone's web browser and is fully functional. Personally, I think that's what makes craigslist beautiful.
