Why is conservative talk radio so popular?

BTW OP, didn't you have a completely conservative viewpoint a few years ago?

Perhaps you said it yourself best:

"There's obliviously some kind of fundamental difference between liberal and conservative "

Human cultural evolution is taking place at different rates. In cities where there are many people from many places cross-fertilization is high. In the country things crawl along except on the TV where Homo Sapiens Californicus is on every day. People resist change they didn't think of themselves, so talk radio is there for their complaints, a big circle-jerk, group hug. In a hundred years they will be were California is now defending traditional gay parades while Californians will all be self fertilizing hermaphrodites.

You know... a bunch of liberals trying to explain why the conservatives like talk radio makes no sense. Especially when they disagree with the ONE conservative who is actually explaining why from personal first hand experience.

They don't disagree with you because you are conservative; they disagree with you because you are wrong.

Simple answer:

TV and movies are bastions of godless jewish lefty homosexhuals (not a contradiction if you ask them), books and newspapers require the ability to read, and educated people don't have jobs that are compatible with listening to a radio.

You heard it here folks. Jerry Springer: bringing culture to the world.

I listen to, but don't necessarily agree with right-wing talk show viewpoints....most of it is how it's delivered. It's entertaining. Left wing hosts bore me.

Ditto, it is interesting to hear the extremist point of view.

As to the statement about conservative radio vs. a "scholarly" Times op ed piece, well put your self in the shoes of the typical conservative talk radio listener...the former would come off as being "on the level" and easily related to whereas the latter might read as pompous and arrogant...much like many of Obama's comments towards "typical" Americans.

No, they disagreed because they are wrong and don't know it. See how clever that was?

Glib, yes. Clever? Not so much.

The two most abundant elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity.

A lot of people fear having to develop their opinions themselves. Conservative talk radio eases that burden and allows someone else to do it for them.

Because us conservatives only have two right leaning conservative sources of information.

Fox News and talk radio.

The left has TONS of places to see their views express. Which is why there is no successful left leaning talk radio shows.

So, where were all the liberals before the internet and Hollywood?

San Francisco?

Because there are a lot of idiots out there who still think Obama is a Muslim and Iraq had something to do with 9/11.

The same brain dead dittoheads that follow blindly the rantings of a fat blowhard railing against illegal drug users and conveiently forgetting he is one himself.

But it's ok to take trips to the Dominican Republic looking for underage hookers.

Because a fourth of the country is made up of cowards who love nothing but "staying the course", no matter how socially or economically retarded said path may be. A quarter of the US population literally cannot take in new information and modify their perception of reality accordingly, it's too upsetting to their world-view, probably because of some kind of mental disorder.

Simple answer now that the diatriabe of trolls an elitists has rolled in (topped off by boyowar821 who never fails to represent).

The older you are, the more likely you are to be conservative.
The older you are, the more likely you are to listen to the radio.

The truth is, nobody can get enough news to be fully informed about the various issues. Personally I love talk radio because a guy like Rush covers a lot of ground. He's not on the radio pretending he's objective while presenting slanted news like MSNBC or others. He's a republican, he doesn't hide the fact, and he presents both sides of every issue, mainly the republican side from his own mouth and the democratic side from their mouths. Usually he has a LOT of sound bites. It's not the daily show where they take a soundbite of Bush and turn it into a gay giraffe joke about Huckabee or something equally stupid. They let the left show themselves for what they are, and then he spends an hour using a lot of logic and reason to show why they're wrong. Yes, i said logic and reason.

Talk radio hosts in general are extremely well grounded in history. Not fantasy tales about hope and change, but cold, harsh reality of what came before. Rush, Hannity, O'reily, Ingram, you name em, like it or not, they're very wise people.

Turn on Comedy Central and most of the time, especially if it's a stand up comedian or some fake news show, you'll get an extreme liberal slant that doesn't even portray the other side properly. Any kind of sound clip is butchered beyond recognition in most cases and when it's not, the joke has nothing to do with the content of the message but the color of the guy's shirt or something like that.

That's why I like talk radio, because it covers much more ground in an intelligent way than most other media, and actually presents the listener WHAT THE HELL IT IS THE OTHER SIDE BELIEVES. You simply cannot learn what conservatives believe by watching the daily show, CNN, maybe Foxnews because they have guests from BOTH SIDES on.

Bottom line, the American people don't want to be spoon fed the batty crap of hollywood, and radio is one the only mediums the left hasn't infected yet because even they aren't creative enough to think up stupid ass jokes and taking things out of context for 3 hours a day and keep the content fresh.

Let me guess, the best source of news is the Daily Show, amirite?

I don't watch the Daily Show (or ANY televised or radio news media), but at least Stewart doesn't lie about the fact that his show is entertainment, and not news.

That's a big difference IMO. All these entertainment-as-news shows, whether Daily Show, CNN, Fox, Rush, or the local evening news, exist purely to meet an emotional need. Basically, you're all drug addicts IMO. Not that there's anything wrong with that, as a libertarian I have always believed in ending the war on drugs. But it sure would be nice if people were more self-aware that they watch one show because they're addicted to outrage, or another because they're addicted to the adrenaline rush of fear, and so forth.
