I naturally breath w/ my mouth open just a little bit, b/c if I try to close it and breath only through my nostrils, I feel like I'm really short of breath. I just can't get enough air intake thru my nostrils.

Have you ever watched someone with their gaping hole open and a blank expression on their face? Mostly nascar fans do this.
Yeah, me too. But I had my nose broken in jr. high and had corrective surgery, supposedly in order to "allow me to breath easier through my nose". Yeah. Baloney, it was healing fine until the damn docs felt the need to re-break it and "fix" it. I mean, it doesn't look in any way bad from the outside, but it is seemingly slightly difficult to breath purely through my nose anymore. Guess the docs needed to finanance their upcoming trip to Jamaica or something. What the hell did I know back then, I was just a kid.Originally posted by: HonkeyDonk

It has nothing to do with what you're taught. Some people cannot breath through their noses because they dont get enough breath into their lungs.Originally posted by: Nik
Typically "cultured" folks are taught to keep their mouth closed when breathing -e.g. breathing through their nose is more polite. Hense "mouth breathers" are uncultured swine.
