I like my stakes medium, but I use A1 to cover up the taste of blood.

Do you lick the blood dripping off the stake after the kill?

You do realize there is a difference between BBQ and grilling?
Get over yourself
You're the purist snob, not me.

Steak should be cooked on cast iron grill, on top of red hot hard wood charcoal with a touch of salt. Some people like chimi churri and it's fine if you use a little and not drown the steak in it. I am a medium rare kind of guy. In fact, I just had rib steak yesterday cooked in my trusty cast iron charcoal grill. The big ass propane grill (4 burner) is for feeding other people, not for me 🙂

I have had everything from a 10 "cheap" steak to a 60 filet at higher-end places. I always get Rare - med/rare. I almost always use steak sauce, just a bit, as a compliment to the flavor. Everything compliments each other, a good sauce compliments a good steak. One thing I always chuckle about is how they put sauce *on* the steak, when everybody has a hissy about regular steak sauce "OHH NOES!".

People are too snobbish about this.

Because spices IMPROVE even the best steak prepared by the best chef in the best possible cooking method.

True, there are many bad steak sauces. But a good kick of spice helps steak. I perfer my steak sauces to be basically a dry rub, but the amount of moisure in a sauce doesn't affect my point.

Sauce != dry rub...but I agree, I like some spcices/dry rub on my steaks.

Not sauce though.

i don't like steak sauce...I'd prefer to put spices in it instead...

although I'm sure this part will cause many to barf: but I like well done steak...I can never get meyself to eat anything other than 100% cooked steak.

Well, you can save money that way, at least.

A conglomeration of Lee and Perrins Worcestershire Sauce and a liberal dose of catsup + burnt dead cow = yum. It gets even better when you add a mixture of green peas and diced tomatoes.

if you're eating steak that actually needs steak sauce, your $$ is better invested in a good hamburger.
