Why Illegals will get everything they want

Is it possible that illegal immigrants are being used as a scapegoat, in the way that gays and gay marriage were used in 2004? It seems like illegal immigrants represent a relatively small segment of the population, yet their existence and lives have been elevated to national importance somehow.

That may be, but that doesnt detract from the issue of having millions of people we know nothing about simply walk across the border and the security issues that arise from this and the economic impact where they settle.

In your first paragraph, you state that there is nothing you can do, in your second paragraph you tell people to wake up. That is the problem right there, everyone says there is nothing they can do, yet expect someone else to step up so they can follow in the impossible.

But in this case the law DOES make sense, regardless of who penned it. The US, like ANY other country, has the inherent right to restrict its borders, regardless of essentially romantic notions to the contrary. What made other mass migrations to the US easier was that they were limited. What's happening on the southern border is very different. Mexican's (mostly) are coming in huge waves that show no sign of abbatting. This equates to millions of people who not only don't have time to assimilate, but in all too many cases show no urge to.

To think that this condition won't have a huge impact on American culture, in both the long and short terms, is thinking with your heart, not your head.

Does it make sense that any latin american that is not mexican who is found to have enterted the US illegally is simply given a piece of paper with a court date? Rather than being sent back to their country they can just ignore the court date and stay. Does that make sense? I dont think much of our immigration policy makes sense, but would you prefer a policy like that of france or germany? Those clearly dont work and thats what you want?

Well yeah I see how you can take it that way. But in the second paragraph I was addressing the people who are wearing blinders and still actively stick up for illegal immigrants. I may not be out in the street making a scene, but I certainly want to make it clear that I don NOT support the case of illegal immigrants. But point taken, I could have worded it better.

See, that is where you are mistaken.

1) People came here illegally at first, a few hundred years ago.
2) The natives traded away there rights, perhaps not in fair deals, but what is done is done.
3) Laws were set up for future Immigration post WW1 and Post WW2.
4) Anyone comming after those laws is a legal immigrant.

So genius if your familly or you came here legally, after immigration laws were set up, you are a legal immigrant. There is a difference between illegal and legal immigrants, you should look into that.

Weak argument, that votes are the driving force. If you read the news lately, you would know that 13% of the US is Hispanic. Guess how many of that 13% voted last election? 6%. Politicians aren't as worried about getting the "Hispanic vote" as you are purporting...

It really has nothing to do with race. At least not for me. It has to do first and foremost with our laws being mocked and laughed at. Secondly, it has to do with the fact that a vast majority of these undocumented, uninvited "permanent guests" in our country have made little or no effort to respect the established societal norms and values of their new surroundings. I propose if this is going to be allowed to continue, lets just disolve national borders and declare Mexico and South America all a part of the United States. Problem solved! Congratulations, you're all American's now! That's what you wanted right? Now, here is what you will owe in taxes and. . . Hey. . where's everybody going?

Precisely my point. You cannot debunk the fact that there is a difference. You are the same type of dispicable person who cries antisemitism every time someone criticizes a Jewish person.

Immigration laws were set up to deal with Immigrants, if you came here before that, you are legal, if you came after that, going through the law, you are legal, if you came after that ignoring the law, you are illegal.
