But in this case the law DOES make sense, regardless of who penned it. The US, like ANY other country, has the inherent right to restrict its borders, regardless of essentially romantic notions to the contrary. What made other mass migrations to the US easier was that they were limited. What's happening on the southern border is very different. Mexican's (mostly) are coming in huge waves that show no sign of abbatting. This equates to millions of people who not only don't have time to assimilate, but in all too many cases show no urge to.
To think that this condition won't have a huge impact on American culture, in both the long and short terms, is thinking with your heart, not your head.
