I first tried sushi at a fairly nice sushi place (Creative Sushi in Venice/Santa Monica, CA) with friends and loved it, then tried to pick up some on my own at a not so nice place(I forget the name, but it was in Redondo beach) and turned myself completely off the concept

It sucks when you don't know what to order or where to go to get the good stuff

uh... california rolls *are* sushi.

makizushi is sushi...

it's just not sashimi. i also crave sashimi... a nice filet of tuna or salmon would be wonderful...

I think you'd be disappointed. It's great on a budget, but if you want really, really fantastic sushi you should look elsewhere.
