I have it away to my cousin mainly because I wanted and could afford a new one.

I misread your post. LOL

Still, the Altima sounds like a complete POS.

Why does it sound like a POS? I commute a lot. Work both ways is 60+ miles. College both ways is 140 miles and I was commuting to both destinations on a daily basis. I think it's damn good that I could do this without having major issues.

This thread was mainly aimed at Ford cars. Everybody that I know that has had a Ford has had major issues and they were lucky if they got to the 100,000 mile mark.

You don't call the problems you have 'major issues'?

I know that I have car issues, but to me an example of a major issue would be if my car's engine gave out on me, or if the car's transmission started missing gears.

I'm not fooling myself as I do know that the car issues that I described earlier are going to need to be fixed. But should I put money into a car that has over 180,000 miles or should I purchase a new or "newer" car?

Then you should have said FORD and not AMERICAN.

The US Gov't should declare you an enemy combatant and torture you in a secret East European prison.

So why do you post a flame thread about a foreign car with major problems (POS) saying 'Let's see an American car can do that!' like it's unheard of?

I still have yet to see any car, import or domestic, come close to my father's 1986 Ford Ranger that had over 423,000 miles with the original engine, transmission and clutch. His next Ranger went over 300,000. My mother's Jeep Cherokee had over 250,000.

Stop smoking that shi'ite you know what the most reliable car for last year was? A Ford Focus bud...here in the US as well as in England...

Let me be the first to nominate this thread as the first contender in the upcoming 'Ownage of the year 2006' thread which we will be seing in 11 months and 3 weeks.

😀

Are you trolling or an idiot? I have 180,000 on my 1995 Ford Thunderbird and it has given me very little issues. I have beat this car hard and it is still going. Plus, it doesn't have as many issues that you currently have with your Nissan.

Matt

My 94 Corsica runs like a top with the same miles and NO issues
I'll be drving a couple more yrs anyway, Oh yeah no repairs to speak of either, alternator $60 and heater core $30

So I'll take my American car just fine thanks. My brother couldn't get his Acura running over the holidays spent $1000 on ingnition problems which he still has and when I went out to look at it while he was trying to start it saw sparks jumping from the distrubutor cap which they changed out about a year ago.
Quality Honda part hmmm?

Overall Jap cars are better but there are lots of NA cars that are real gems and some real POS's too

My car issues...

1. I have over 180,000 miles on it.
2. The check engine light has been on for the last 2 years. It's a valve leak.
3. The exhaust is shot and rusted. It makes this grumbling sound and it's quite noisy.
4. My car needs a tune up badly. When I come to a red light the car will start to shake as if it's going to stall on me, but it never does.
5. It's been 6,000 miles since my last oil change. I'm getting an oil change tomorrow morning.
6. My shocks and struts are done. Everytime I hit a bump the underneath of the vehicle makes this loud sound and whenever I make a sharp turn I can hear the struts. It makes this awful sound.

This car has gotten me through college. During my last semester I had to drive 140 miles a day for 5 days a week so I could get back and fourth to school and yet I had ZERO issues! The only problem was that I had to constantly fill the tank with gas.

Let's see an American car do that! 🙂

I am in the same boat.

2001 Altima...

1. getting close to 100k
2. Oil change is always long over due (last time it went around 12 k without one, ths itime it has gone about 5k without one).
3. My check Engine light is on (been on for as long as my aunt owned it, i guess 4 years) and i have not even checked it yet.
4. Who knows what else is wrong.

I hate this car (so uncomfy!!), but I amazed at how this thing can take a beating. My mom's Avalon could not even do this.😉

A beating?
The thing is barely broke in!
2001 Altimas are good cars, usually check engine lights are O2 sensors just take it in and get it serviced.

Why are you killing your car on purpose?

Altima owners are getting 0wn3d left and right here.

Cause I have no time to take care of it. When I get out of work, all teh places that give oil changes are closed. I can't do it at my apt, I have no driveway. When i get home, I am too busy helping my mom. the only time I iwll be bale to do this is when i go back to school. I have to get an oil change in between classes.
