I have the g4 quicksilver. aside from pointing out the obvious misnomber, jaguar keeps hiccuping and every so often refuses to open the cd drive/eject a cd. It thinks everything has ejected, but neeto, it won't open. What's cooler is that there's no actual physical button to make the case look ugly, so yeah, OSX is stable... but I have to reboot to open the cd drive. *GRRRRRR*

well, actually no. it's only mine in the sense that it's my workstation. I wouldn't buy one of these pieces of crap with my own money.

I described the problem, followed the prescribed updates, etc.. no good. It's just the way OSX chooses to handle cds. One hell of a bug though-

The eject button is on the top right corner of the keyboard. Congratulations, you've actually failed to be able to use a macintosh.

I have had multiple Apple computers and I never had this issue.

lmao. yeah right. quicksilver only has the eject key on the keyboard, which is essentially a softkey. No i'm not retarded, I've been using macs for years. My point is that when this bug occurs, the eject key doesn't do anything, aside from make the lcd display a pretty eject icon.

Have you tried throwing it out? I dunno why anyone even wastes their time with macs. There's nothing available for it. Sure there are a few programs here and there made for mac, but 95% of the software is for PC.

I bet Apple execs are still kicking themselves for not licensing out their technology. IBM did it and look at the PC world today.

You probably have a bum CD ROM drive. One of my G4s had crap drive that did that, too. We had it replaced.

you'd work your a$s off to make your PC work. but when the Mac has a problem, you bitch and moan and are too lazy to do anything. if you put in 1/10th of the effort that you put in the PC, your mac would own all.

If you mean games, you are correct. Then again, most mac users are older than 13 and dont use them for video games. :D

Apple's crappy tech support contract probably already ran out. What is it, something like 90 days?

Obviously you have a lot of experience with Apple and their computers.

On the other hand, it sounds like you have a hardware problem, Bad Drive maybe, I've never had these problems.

No, it isn't. It's one year, which is pretty standard, right? Also, I have acutally CALLED Apple for support before and they were GREAT.

If the machine is over one year old, then he has to pay for a replacement. Big whoop. How is this ANY different than ANY OTHER OEM PC you buy off the shelf?

I'm sick of these stupid people that just go off on apple. Come on guys.

I personally use both, and I'm perfectly happy. I have Several of both. Whats have i had the most problems with? My PC's.

There are things i HATE about both of them, there is no perfect OS, but at least we have 2 sides trying.

That stupid idea almost bankrupted apple when they were licensing out their tech.
