Why I hate my job

Just another reason why I hate my job...

We got an email about inclement weather this morning stating that if the weather is bad enough to the point where it is unsafe to drive, you will either be charged for PTO, unpaid, or you would have to make up the time another day.

So I guess mother nature and certain death don't go hand in hand with the boss man's plans? WTF

😕

😕 why's this thread in highly technical? Moving it to OT -DrPizza

Management too?

Hate to say it but firewolf brings up a good point. If it is that unsafe to drive and your company puts out a policy like that, essentially forcing you to come to work, and you get in an accident they are going to have some responsibility.
When the fires were going on here in San Diego last year my company essentially shut down. They took the opposite tack and said if you cant make it, dont come.

The last place I worked at employees were required to work 10 hour days that started at 4am. Then on Fridays they would regularly let you know that you had been scheduled to work on Saturday. Not coming in was considered an unexcused absence.

I hate my job because they pay me as compenstion for work I do.
I also hate my job because i was not forced to work here
If you can believe it, I even have the choice to leave anytime of my choosing.

Because my boss is overly emotional, and he lets his son work with us and the kid walks around like he has a badge of immunity.

Since I'm quitting I plan on doing something really terrible to the kid on my last day.

This is standard procedure where I work too.

Excuse my ignorance, but are there really jobs out there that aren't this big of a pain? Every place I've worked for pretty much treats their employees like crap, so I've sort of come to expect it. If there really are "good" jobs out there, maybe I really should switch. Been thinking about it lately anyway. Someone care to clue me in?

PICS or BAN! 🙂

At my job we get Paid for inclement weather days off. =)

Also for: Administrative leave, employee health events, university sponsored events, sick days, closings, all federal/state holidays (mass. and maine have patriots day) + a few other situations.

At my job there's an emergency alert system (phone, email, txt, etc...) in place just to tell us to stay home in cases of inclement weather (as well as bomb threats, disasters, terrorism, gunmen, etc..).

Universities. I've never been treated so well...I actually feel valued.

I don't understand. You're bitching about not showing up for work & then not getting paid for it?

When the weather is bad and unsafe the company pays you. But we also get this once a year, monsoons on January 1st then the 21st is a cold snap to -20 :| Hate living near the Great Lakes... 🙁

I hate my job because I get NO days off. I work Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, usually it's overtime so I don't get paid time and a half. The man I work with to be a 'functioning' member of society has been known to rip his own flesh out of his arms with his teeth, masturbate to small school children while in the middle of the street, swing lead pipes through windows (common) and be hospitalized for masturbating too hard (with blood everywhere)...

I've worked there two years...as a result, I have absolutely NO patience with ANYTHING. Not even my child. As he blabbers on and on in incoherent dribble, I find myself slowly saying the same broken, 3-year-old, sentences as he does more and more...

I think I need a new job.

"So, all you gotta do is avoid him... on the last few hours on Friday, duck out early, turn off your answering machine... you should be home free, man."

I hate my job because people expect me to know and solve all of their problems.

You think if I knew half this shit off the top of my head I would be getting 7.50 and hour?

Some people also try to get everything they can outta me. No, I dont mind looking up which cartridge your printer takes. Yes, I do mind you wanting me to go all the way up there, grabbing it, and coming all the way back so next time you come in I can do it all over again.
