Why I don't have tv

OP, maybe some old TV shows, shows like The Twilight Zone, Bonanza, The Rifleman, Outer limits, Night Gallery, The odd couple, ect. Back when TV had good writing and real stars, not the complete SHIT on now, 2 broke girls? yea, right, super-hot women are usually not broke for long lol..

Lots of good shows on cable. You probably have bad taste.

Ps- man I can't wait for Breaking Bad to be back on TV

The only downside with Netflix is shows only seem to get updated with new episodes after the DVD box sets come out. So most seasons are only up to 2011 right now. That said, this is the future of TV. The only real advantage cable and satellite offer is live broadcasts, especially news and sports. Though I can see that changing sooner rather than later. I watched the Sandy concert streamed live on YouTube.

The only problem with being here in Canada is Netflix is the only option and its sub par compared to the US version. A lot of us pay for DNS services to get the US one. Lord knows how long the powers that be will allow it though.

I'm bed bound for the foreseeable future due to a car wreck and a broken heel and thigh bone. I had to move back in with my parents for the time being since my mom doesn't work and is helping take care of me.

I'm extremely bored, I can't really move hardly anything, and I'm stuck flipping the channels all day (I haven't started a book yet but I need to). All things said, for the entire time I've been reintroduced to cable I've found essentially nothing at all worth watching. In fact, the only thing I have enjoyed came on PBS which is free lol.

Anyways, this sucks. I hurt. Don't get into wrecks, they're no fun! 🙁

i havent had cable since last century.
i use rabbit ears.

since they canceled LOST, the only things i watch are live shows.
ie: sports and awards shows

btw- hope u get alot of $ from suing the guy that caused your accident. pain and suffering = $$$

Sorry to hear about your wreck 🙁, hope you can get around ok and aren't really bound to your bed for a long ass time. Got a wheel chair or anything?

Don't listen to the curmudgeons! There is still good televsion to be found. The only good way to watch TV is via DVR (skip those commercials), netflix as people have said (thought I haven't tried it) or going the torrent route. Hopefully you can find some shows that'll keep ya hooked for a while. Here's a bunch of shows I like, but your tastes are probably different:

Breaking Bad
The Walking Dead
Justified
Suits
House
Louie
Modern Family
Pawn Stars

Hrmm probably forgetting a few.

Yea, TV's the worst. I haven't had one in 15 years or so. There's a few shows that are watchable, but outside HBO specials, and reruns there's nothing I'd make a point of watching.

Hope you get better soon. Any permanent damage you think?

How do you watch your HBO's specials and reruns if you don't have a TV?

They do have Netflix, but I'm not a movie watcher (ill see 3 or 4 in a years time). Are there any decent tv series on Netflix ( I've already seen all of lost)? I dunno, I generally only enjoy watching documentaries, but the ones I've watched on H2 and science channel so far are terrible. Aside from PBS, I don't think Americans are capable of making non juvenile, neurotic documentaries. For instance, every documentary I've see thus far involves , electric guitars, stupid zooming and camera angle, and they all go way off subject onto really stupid tangents.

I think every day I lay here I get more and more bitter. 😛

tons of good TV series and great Docs on Netflix. it's stupid not to have it, imo.

also...I don't think you're looking for the proper documentaries if you can only find guitar and car stuff. Americans make amazing docs. Look up Errol Morris and go from there.

The only thing I find tolerable on TV is PBS, as well--one of the main reasons I ditched cable.

I was the guy that caused my accident ( rear ended somebody ), so no$$$ for me. 🙁

Just curious what documentaries you guys are referring to on Netflix? I like some documentaries 🙂

Watched 30 for 30 "You don't know Bo" recently and that was well done and interesting, as was the 30 for 30 episode about Ricky Waters.

My share of the cable bill is only $20. For that price, we get whole home DVR and 300+ channels. If you aren't picky, there is SOMETHING on TV that you can watch. You're lying if you say that isn't true.

Even on days when I don't watch TV, its always nice to be able to turn it on and have a selection of things to choose from. 90% of the shows I watch religiously have turned out to be things that I randomly decided to tune into what it was on TV, the other 10% are foreign shows that I found out about on the internets.
