why headaches during lifting all the sudden?

The last few times I have worked out, I have gotten throbbing headaches during my first few sets. They die down a little as I work out, but they still linger for a while.

This didnt use to happen, so why all the sudden? Possible causes?

I thought I might have been dehydrated, but that didnt fix it.

I had the EXACT thing happen about 2-3 months ago. They are incredibly painful and are called Exertion Headaches.

That's a breif description of what they are, but there is alot more out there. If they are at a 'migraine' pain level (if you have ever had one) - I suggest going to the doctor or seeing a neurologist. After consulting my neurologist, he figured that they would not have any adverse effect, but he still gave me an MRI to rule out an anurism, then put me on anti-inflammatories. I took them the first month 30 minutes before I exercised. After that, I've been fine.

hmm its not high blood pressure... could be vitamin deficiencies tho...

Would drinking gatorade help, or should I take a multivitamin tablet each day?

Edit: diet is the same, and ill look into the exertion headache thing

nope... the headaches usually are the worst when I am doing a machine bench press... this is where they peak. Doing curls, rows, etc... will give a small headache, but the bench and shoulder presses give a massive throbbing headache

Still, you might have a injured muscle in your neck/shoulders that is causing the headaches. Pay attention to your form when lifting - try to keep your head up and your neck straight. You might want to ask someone to observe your form just to make sure you have it right.

very good advice

yeah I think ill try taking a multivitamin and also drinking lots of gatorade before lifting. I am almost certain my technique is right (keep neck/back straight, and breathe out during lift)

If that doesnt help any, then ill see a doctor

Make sure you are also breathing correctly during lifting

This is most likely his problem - it's best to take deep breathes, hold, then release.
