Why have kids?

How old are you. Strom Thurmond-esque?

I'm 38. I know that while males can technically produce sperm for reproduction indefinitely, recent studies have shown that past a certain time period the likelyhood of birth defects increases as the male grows older.

Not to mention, that if I were to have a kid say when I was 45, I would be in my mid 60's by the time he / she went to college, and things like playing ball or sports related activities would be increasingly difficult.

If you read the reasons above Juddog, they're mostly selfish reasons.

"It makes me love more"
"When work sucks, my kids are toys that cheer me up"
"Other BS here"

no one thinks about what the kid is going to have to go through

You sound like a very cheerful person. Trust me on this, nobody is going to be particularly distraught that you're not procreating.

Understood. 37 when the boy was born. He beats me at soccer regularly (46 now), bad knees. Damn shoulder has been hurting for a week from Wii. But I wouldn't trade.

Friend just had twins at 52.😵

Ehh .... Some of us have just grown up and think we will be ready to have them some day... Sure, kids can be spoiled little selfish assholes, but tehy are also fun. I look forward to having a few of my own some day.

A warm and snuggly kid in footy pajamas snoring into you shoulder with their arm around your neck is the greatest thing in the world. No I don't have my own yet 🙁 Ive lost many nights of sleep though just sitting there blissed out with friends and relative's kids asleep in my arms instead of taking them to their bed.
