Ok, I'm a college student, as many of you ATer's are. I also work for a living to be able to eat and sleep in a bed and stuff. I have student loans (that cover about half of my tuition) and I make $7.50/hour at a local tech support. The government takes $1.35/hour of my paycheck, or 18% of what I could make. I'm all about government programs and stuff, and having them collect taxes, but can't they go a little easier on the people who go to school full time and work? Why do people that make ~ $6k/year paying 18% tax anyways? Why do I pay money when I have to borrow from them to pay tuition? What's going on?!

You will probably get e refund at the end of the year. What did you get when you did your taxes last year?

Just wait until you make more money and look at your w2. You'll want to cry when you see 35 thousand in takes.

Nah, I'll get some back. I think I got like almost $200 back, but then I had to pay the state $100 more......but, 35k in taxes?! How much do you make for goodness sake!! Throw some money my way and write it off or something!

Millions and millions of people in this country pay that much in tax. Not that hard to do with a top tax rate of 35%. (and that's only federal income tax). My father pays upwards of 10x that.

Why not? The company pays into, why not take from them since they fired you?

Very valid point. I probably will/would when I'm older. I meant I wouldn't now. Just the other day I was pointing out to some one else how great it is that we can get unemployment. That way you have ~ 6 months to find a job that pays as much or more than your last job, and you don't have to just grab the next one you find so that your kids can eat and go to school and stuff. Socialism rocks.

I'm all about taxing the rich more. Heck ya! They don't need billions of dollars! What's taxing some one who makes 1 million/year 35%. Just don't tax people that can barely afford to live!

I haven't got my education yet, I don't really drive, I don't like the police, I don't use the library, and the piper is mean, and he doesn't deserve money. Ok, j/k, but seriously, I shouldn't have to borrow money from somebody I pay. It doesn't follow logic. If I'm so poor that you give me money, don't take money from me. That's like my girlfriend. She got a couple of grants, yet she paid taxes. Strange isn't it?

IF i recall correctly making 120k is enough to get into the 35% bracket.
