My Prom expenses this year:

Tux w/ shoes: $100
Flowers for date: $20
Dad's car + gas: Free
My admission: Free (paid for by the Junior class)
Date's admission: $10
Dinner: Free (paid for by the Junior class)

Total: $130

Not too bad in my opinion. Anyway, it was a fun night. Afterprom was very fun too.

[q/]Wow, it takes a brave, naive to the ways of ATOT person to post a picture of their high school age daughter on this forum.[/quote]

heh. she's not in highschool anymore.. and hasn't been a problem yet.. but ok.. I'll fix that.

(ok.. I think is fixed)

I nevere went to my prom, but I advise people to buy the shoes and rent the tux. Ypu're going to need the shoes again if you go in interviews and formal parties.

Limos suck, get the party bus.

"prom" and "gay"...yeah...well if you step outside of the bounds of the AT population, the "average" prom-going experience is great for most people. I didn't get laid at the end of the evening, but I didn't plan on it...I slept next to my g/f, after having a nice night. I spent 150 on tickets, like 75 on the limo and that's it. (had a friend who worked at the tux store, saved me 150)

I still don't get why prom is gay. but you're cool...yeah.

I spent about... $225 total on prom back in 2001. That was between my tux, prom tickets, and of course the coursage. I didn't want a fancy limo because everyone else was doing it, so I arrived in a nice shiny black 1999 Malibu LS. I think the only thing I regret was that my date was sick the day of prom and it was over by 10 PM.

My prom:

Tickets, 20 each. Total: 40.
Tuxedo rental with shoes = 100.
Corsiage = 20
Pictures = 40.
Video = I bought hers and mine, 40 total.
I spent 240$

And the girl I took bought her dress from Saks Fifth Avenue off the infamous Westheimer Rd. (you houstonians know whats up)
Needless to say that alone was $300+ for her. Geez, and we only went as friends!

I hated my prom, and wish i didnt spend the money that i did...however, if I had to do it all over again, I would. Its the memories, not the moment.

Quite possibly the best $700 I spent, though that really killed my hot deals spending back in the golden age of the internet.

I had quite a few friends in HS....just less than 5 of them attended the same HS I did.

Going to prom with someone of the same gender is gay.

Going to the prom is a big waste of cash, regardless of who or what you go with.

I didn't go to mine, asked around on how much other people spent on all the frivilous things and felt real good about myself for saving a ton of cash. People said I was going to regret not going, I think I would have regretted wasting my money.

Skipped reading the thread. Before you say that's gay... I don't care. I am gay.

I did take a girl to prom... or at least attempted. It was a very sad situation... we both came down with the flu around the same time... hers just kicked in before mine... among other things. She wound up throwing up several times at dinner before prom (well, not actually AT dinner, but you know...). So I took her home before we even got there. I still went to the prom anyway... with a group of friends. Needless to say, didn't get laid.

Prices... $80 renting Tux... $20 for 2 tickets to a very nice prom... $0 borrowing a nice car... $20 fuel... $20 food... going to the prom w/ friends and having an awesome time, even without sex: priceless. For everything else: There's MasterCard. (Couldn't help but saying it.)

My date didn't have to buy a dress because she had it last year... but when she did get it, all she did was purchase the material... she made it herself... and it did rival just about everyone else's there (at least in my eyes).

OMG..most of you guys are exactly like the guys off of American Pie. I didn't realize that the whole getting laid thing at your prom was for real. lol

I'm glad we don't have real prom's here in Canada. (well maybe not all of canada)

My gf in high school had mono during prom. We broke up during the time frame, but still talked and went to prom together. After dinner, and before prom - she insisted on going home to take a nap for a few hours (mono makes people tired i guess)

anyways, i went out and smoked a few Js with some buddies, went to the prom dance without my date cuz i was kinda out of it. Went back to pick her up, she was ticked and kicked me out. I met up with another girl at prom and took her home with me. The next morning my original date came knockin on my door to apologize - but she found me and the other chick and stormed off.

Needless to say, things didn't work out.
Btw, i've changed alot since then :p

prom was awful. dont go. i went to two so i know from experience (and yes i did get some).

seriously, if your date/gf could care less about where you spend that day, just have dinner and think of something creative to do, and get a hotel room if you so please. much cheaper and you'll have way more fun
