Why fusion power will NEVER be feasible...

Because, no matter how you slice it, it takes a HUGE power investment to create, and maintain, the fusion reaction. Waste of time, effort, and money. You heard it hear first - fusion power will NEVER be a thing.

Just rely on nature's natural and energy free fusion... the sun. Put solar panels in space and beam down the power.

I wouldn't be so sure. Go back a few hundred years (not to mention thousands) and people living in that time would think we're a bunch of wizards with what we have accomplished and use daily today. Don't underestimate the ingenuity and the drive of humans to accomplish seemingly insurmountable problems.

Errrr, you might have well have said, "Don't be so sure - don't underestimate the ingenuity and the drive of humans to create energy out of nothing!". Becuase that's how silly that statement is...

LOL, "invent" it? Its already been invented hahahahaahahahahahahahahaa.

http://newatlas.com/japanese-breakthrough-in-wireless-power/36538/

Where's my billions? Wait, I'll take your hole retirement account of $33.28 and we'll call it a day....
Bro, they transmitted 10Kw approximately 1/4 of a mile. Hardly what I call a useable system to transmit the amount of power you are talking about here, not to mention the distance is much longer.

You're such a clown lol.

LOL, I think you don't know the meaning of the term "invent"....
ok? What. Obviously wireless power has been a thing for a long time. Wtf do you think wifi is you derp?

I'm talking actual large amounts of power, wirelessly transmitted SAFELY over LARGE distances. What you've linked is like a technology readiness level of .5 when the end goal is transmitted Gigawatts of power 50+ miles with no wires. Not to mention the receiving stations for this imaginary system would have to giant, due to the attenuation of the energy waves over such long distances. So these receivers will be in the middle of absolutely no where, then we have to build up tons of infrastructure to connect all of this lovely power into the existing grid, on top of the insane costs of building these giant solar collector panels in space.

Not saying it can't/won't happen, but it sure as shit ain't happening anytime soon.

Oh yea? Providing a net surplus of power? LOL, read and comprehend much? :p

You said that they would never actually DO fusion power, you never said anything about economically. The article I referenced shows that they are indeed working on it. Go back and reread your original post, troll.

Not to mention I'm not entirely sure how he thinks the sun is "energy free" but hey, we already know he's just a shit-posting troll.

well maybe if we all leave our refrigerator doors open simultaneously we can achieve fusion.

It will be practical at some point. And if we ever intend to travel to other planets or solar systems, that would be the only way to power a space craft capable of that journey. You won't find any places in space to get fuel (at least not until space stations are built) and even then, you need to get to them first.

it's even better than that

The company did not confirm what percentage of the power sent actually made it to the receiver, however, which is a key question as the ultimate goal is to relay power from orbit thousands of miles above Earth.
