so what sucks about it?

Which? I never said firefox sucks. It's a decent browser, I just see no reason to switch.

The proponents of firefox love to say things like "its faster". "Ok" I reply, "so that means I can cancel my DSL and go back to dialup, just by using firefox?"

hahaha.

that's where I stopped reading ;)

1. When people say FireFox is faster I've always assumed it to means the program is faster/more responsive, not the downloading of content.

2. In your http://www.messedup.net/firefox-demo.htm link, I see no code that is supposed to center the table. The only thing I see is IE is automatically centering the table, whereas FireFox displays it as the code is written (firefox-demo2.htm - is centered in FF because it's specified to be centered).

3. Fark.com looked fine to me in Firefox.

I used to love maxthon / myie2 ... that is until my brother's comp got killed by spyware ... so I quickly switched my comp's browser over to Firefox :)

If you are using firefox, this box is not centered!
And tell me why this is bad?

Of course it doesn't even make a difference to you. I know you won't edit your article with its oh-so perfect argumentation.

Exactly. Should everything be automagically centered in Internet Explorer even though nothing is coded to be centered? :confused:

I can't really address all the replies, I didnt expect 2 pages so quick.

I just don't like it when people who are very un-tech savvy talk about browser differences

Actually I have a degree in computer science, but thanks for the blind assumption!

actually, it's specified in a CSS class:

body {
background-color: #999999;
text-align: center;
}

Which is the proper way to do it, according to W3C. As far as the spyware arguments, I cant deny that, however, with a growing marketshare, you can bank on spyware authors targeting FF next.

Oh, and messedup.net is a NSFW page. All pages linked here are not. I didnt link the frontpage of MU for that reason, didnt want to spring any surprises on anyone.

Well, the text in the box is centered. Granted I don't know CSS so I don't know how you would specify that the box should be centered in CSS.

The worst thing about FF is that it doesn't display websites properly. I have most problems with those sites where I have to sign in.
I would use IE if it offered tabbed browsing and mouse gestures. Those are the main 2 reasons I use FF.

Why should you tolerate looking at something different than the way the author intended?

Very interesting read. I use Firefox as my main browser and beforew I read this it was going to be another really dumb article on why Firefox sucks when the author does not back it up. However you did back it up which is good.

What sites?

I use Firefox for frickin everything....no problems.

The only thing I use IE for is windows update....and when I have to help someone with teh intar-web remotely and they're using IE....or I'm downloading Firefox for them...

EDIT: just curious, btw....I'm not a zealot by any means...I just appreciate the fact that Firefox is certainly less susceptible to bad things at this point and I like the interface and blah blah blah....

DOUBLE EDIT: see, zealots would type furiously trying to prove their point...i barely care :p

Then I'm sure I don't have to tell you how to change the posts shown per page in profile?

Man, I love FF. IE sucks.
