Wouldn't do any good to test them. In my state, if an old person fails say, the eye test, all he/she has to do is ask for help and the DMV people will pass them anyway.
My grandma's best friend can't see past her hood, but got her license renewed anyway.

Mandantory testing past age 70 should be instituted. 60 is too young.
Bah!

Mandatory license removal at 70. That is the only logical answer.

Yeah that's really logical, because ALL people over the age of 70 are incapable of driving safely.

EVERYONE should have to take a driving test every two years, there are plenty of non-elderly people who suck at driving.

Sorry, if MOST people over 70 have problems driving, then ALL people over 70 should take biannual tests.

I can't help but be reminded of the SP epi... the AARP or whatever it is, comes to town to defend the elderly's ability to drive and their main sustenance is the Country Kitchen Buffet :D

You know this is true, but I think the elderly have a tad more free time, thus still outnumber us. Plus the fact that they still have the resources too. I wonder if that'll still be the case later on (us being old and turning the blind eye to the fact that OLD = dangerous)...

for all the talk about how old people suck at driving, why are there WAY more fatalities in the demographic of this forums users?

oh wait, that would involve a little self awareness...

By that logic more teenagers should be tested every 10 days.

The old woman doesn't even look phased! I wonder if she stopped?

P.S. I like the looks of amazement by the bystanders (especially the young lady in the passenger seat of the car to the back left).

If it was photo-chopped it's a damn good job. Check out the expressions of the people in the car on the left.

I dont see any shadow on the other pedestrians on the sidewalk. I'm not 100% sure it's fake, it could be the camera... but I would expect more shadow than just the small bit under the woman's shoe.

Looks like there's an uber-powerful flash on that camera. That would blow the visible shadows out.

But on balance I'd rather share the road with a 75-year-old who can't drive and knows it, than a 20-year-old who thinks he can drive and can't.

You always add so much to the conversation......thanks yet again for proving that you are nothing but an worthless asshat :|

This is why I drive an SUV. If I can't get out of the way in time at least I'm in the bigger vehicle.

That's exactly why I think this is fake. I can't see how a 100+ lb person can be perfectly horizontal on the side of the car like that. At a minimum, there should be some damage visible where the car hit.

It looks almost like someone put a dummy on the side of their car to scare people.

I think he was on the hood and is in the process of sliding off. You can see some damage to her windshield (drivers's lower right), perhaps where his head hit it?

Man you people are the most skeptical freaks I have ever come across. You can't see how a person can be perfectly horizontal? HOW ABOUT BECAUSE HE IS FLYING THROUGH THE AIR, AFTER SMASHING HIS HEAD INTO THE OLD BAG'S WINDSHIELD???? Do you see the smashed in windshield right below the raised wiper?
And some other moron was wondering why the wiper was up?? MAYBE BECAUSE A GUY JUST SMASHED HIS HEAD INTO IT???~?!??!?!!?!?!

Jesus Christ people.

Because when we drive, we wind up killing ourselves in our sporty fiberglass cars going 90mph. When old people drive, they kill and/or destroy with their boats, as in their Caddilacs, their Towncars, etc driving at 30-35mph and aren't even aware of wtf just happened.

Crap, that's spicy. However, I fail to see the victim. Who was ran over? Sure I can see the briefcase flying, and some remnants of the victim's shirt, but where in the hell is he/she him/herslef?

There was a local incident here where an old lady was driving, hit a lady, and dragged her underneath the car for over a kilometer, until someone flagged her down. Poor lady died. :(

I have another incident (not as bad luckily) that occured to me & my family. We were on the highway at night, coming around a bend, and at the end of hte bend there was an division of lanes that led to an off ramp. So we cross the bend and narrowly missed a car THAT WAS STOPPED RIGHT ON THE LANE THAT LED TO THE OFF RAMP! THey didn't even go to the shoulder or left the lights on...they were right there on the lane with no lights. Keep in mind they stopped right at the end of the bend, so you can't see them until the very last second. So anyway, my uncle narrwly avoids the stopped car by slamming on the brakes and then changing lanes....however in the process, the RX300 behind us couldn't react in time and hit us. The stopped car was unscathed since my uncle's car took the grunt of the damage.

So me and my uncle talk to the RX300 driver and then approach the stopped car. We assumed the car was dead and hte occupants had called a tow truck or something (this was around 11pm). Apparently not. The car was running with hte outside lights off, no hazards - nothing, and hte occupants, and elderly couple, were reading a map with the interior lights on.

And they were totally oblivious to what happened around them. When we asked them why they stopped on the lane, they just took off!

woah! did u get their liscense plate numbers atleast?!? call the cops?!

I do not doubt stuff like this happens, however, where are the shadows for the suitcase?

Perhpas a newspaper article on this accident would confirm the story for us.
