Why don't you use your turn signals?

I used to signal wayy ahead of time all the time, but the driver in the next lane would just try to speed up to block me. Now I don't signal as to not tip off the jerks. I just blink once and move in 🙂

Which makes you a jerk too. Use them right or get off the road. Blinking once or twice just screams "I don't care, I'm only trying to avoid a ticket".

Because when you drive a SUV, you always have the right of way. America, fvck yeah!

Fine Print: I always use my turn signal.

I almost always use them, unless I know theres no one to signal to, or it doesnt matter whether other people know what I'm doing.

Sometimes Ill just jut into the next lane before anyone else has a chance to react, and couldnt hit me even if they wanted to.

Besides, its like the wild west out here in NY. Passing on the right happens just as often as passing on the left. Turn signals are optional. If youre driving a car and not an SUV, youre in the minority. If you do have a car, and its not a fast coupe, youre even more in the minority. Tailgating is obligatory. If youre going the speed limit, youre going slow. Doesnt matter if its a monsoon outside. Most people out here dont even realize they have mirrors on the side of their SUV. My personal favorite though, is the trucks driving in the left lane. That just rules.

And women cant drive. A woman behind the wheel of an SUV yapping on her cell phone (25%+ of drivers around here) is just a road hazard.

What's worse is that people who don't use them assume that nobody else does. I lived on a street that had a fairly busy intersection, basically a T kind of deal. I always went straight, no stop sign or light, while people coming onto the road turned left. Since most people travelling the direction I was turned right rather than go straight, people would constantly pull out right in front of me, assuming that my no signal meant a right turn. Got so bad I put my left signal on to let people know I was going straight. One guy still pulled out in front of me, and I had half a mind to just ram him and teach him a lesson.

sometimes my girlfriend makes fun of me because i use them when there is no other car in sight 🙂

which brings me to an important question...

theres a red light at an intersection in the middle of no-where.
Its 4 am and theres not another car around for miles...do you stop and wait for the light to turn green...or is it ok to go?

i would just race straight thru.
There might even be a remote chance that (since the light is red) some pedestrian is walking across street right now, since (just theoretically spoken) he should have a green light when you have the red one.

As said, chances are remote...but who cares 🙂

If you would care you wouldn't need to ask here for advice, right ? 🙂

At a three way red light, in the middle of a road where you can see for miles around, I stopped, looked around, and went.

My GF had a cow about it. Neither of us is ever wrong, so it was an interesting night to say the least.

No harm, no foul I say.

Something that I find really annoying is those who are pretty reckless (going 90+ mph swerving/cutting in and out) and use their blinkers for every single lane change. They will do like 6 lane changes in less than 20 seconds and each time they swithc lanes they flash their blinkers for a split second.

Now you might be thinking "wait, isn't that good that he's using his blinkers?"

Normally yes, but like I said, I'm talking about the drivers who are going really fast and just cutting everyone off, swevring all over the place just to get ahead of everyone else, and whenever they switch lanes, they flash their signals for less than 1 second b/c obviously since they are going so fast it takes less than a second for them to switch lanes. If you're going to drive like that, what's the point of using blinkers? In my opinion, it just makes you look like a moron.

On a slightly related note, why is it that only in America the turn signals are frequently the same color of the brake lights? You even find this on import cars. Is it because since most people don't use them, it wouldn't even matter if they were a distinguishable color like amber?

Because it gives me great pleasure pissing people off.
My old man always said "never trust a turn signal".
I don't take turn signals as Gospel, merely as a suggestion.
You never know when you're going head to head with some asshole who's traveling around the world to the left.

I use my left one but not the right because it is sorta broken so when I push up the lever it will fall back down as soon as a let go and not stay up until a complete the turn.

Because I own the road and I don't like sharing the road so no one should be in my way. But if they happen to be driving on my roads, I expect them to be able to read my mind and know when I'm about to cut them off.

it makes em feel like a man to not use one, just like being seen with a sig in their mouth... it's just cooool maaaan. 😉

it's just something really simple, takes virtually no effort, and makes life more simple for everyone on the road.

ex: I'm going straight along a road. traffic in the opposite direction is heavy. I come to an intersection where there's a car on my right at a stop sign. if I saw a turn signal to indicate that they were making a right turn, I'd slow down and allow them to make that turn. but no turn signal = no way. for all I know, they could be making a left turn and end up getting stuck in the middle of the intersection because no one on the other side will yield them.

it's also helpful so cars behind you can start braking early. it pisses me off to no end when people suddenly slow down in the middle of the road for no reason (I can't read their mind to know that they're slowing down to make a turn). if I see the turn signal before they hit the brakes, I know to slow myself down a bit so I don't need to jam on the brakes later.

sometmies i piss people off and i put my left signal for a right turn...thats just funny though, i always use my blinker 🙂

i use my signals all the time. i'm weird like that but i cannot stand the idiots that do not signal. i'll be driving along and then i'll see a car cut right in front of me. no signal, no glancing over their shoulder, nothing.

i'm convinced i'm one of the few safe drivers in LA.

Yea, except guess what, it isn't always freaking marked to oncoming traffic that you are in an effing turn lane you lazy *(#$%#(&!!!!! And not every road is symmetrical with turn lanes both ways.

edit: spelling

I never have difficulty figuring out if there is a turn lane when looking at oncoming traffic. Maybe you should pay more attention.

When it's dark outside and raining, no streetlights. Can't see the road. All you can see is glareing headlights in your windshield.

Is it so difficult to just use it anyways? Why take the moment to think about if you want to use it or not and just do it instead?
