My daily driver is a manual. I drive my wife's automatic for fun. I guess I'm a little backward.

I bought my car used and it came as an auto. I don't know what I'd prefer though. I am kind of poking at the idea of buying a manual WRX though... anything more reliable than what I have :p.

Because I drive a truck and it would be ridiculous to try to pull a boat out of the water with a manual.

Had a manual, but it got old, real fast, in traffic jams.

Dealt with it for two years, but went automatic when I bought a new one.

I feel like I have more control in a manual. I feel more connected to the road.

I also used to live on a big hill, and automatics would have a hell of a time deciding what gear they wanted to be in.

Because the backpack avatar looks more like a blue Easter Island statue then a backpack.

i drove manual for 20+ years ... but i finally got sick of all the up-and-down shifting in heavy traffic. i've had an automatic for 3 years now and i'm loving it!

I have an auto because it was the only option for my car.

I do drive it like a stick sometimes. Shifting from drive into 2nd and holding it there to near redline for extra acceleration. Or for keeping it in 3rd for extra engine braking down long hills.

Lazy, traffic, little fuel economy difference between auto and manual. (24/31 manual, 23/31 auto)

hm... i've always preferred manual even in traffic cuz it gives me more direct control over the car's movement unlike an auto.

No, it's not. Especially not with 4WD and a transfer case with low gear, or a 2WD with a "granny" gear.

All my vehicles have manual transmissions. I've never owned an auto.

The modern synchronized constant mesh manual transmission is hardly "Luddite" or anti-technology.

Because the first car I bought was an auto and it's worked for the past six years.

automatic is boring and expensive to fix. unless your body is too beat up to drive manual, theres not much excuse. you shouldn't be talking on a cell phone (w/o headset), eating a donut, drinking coffee, and smoking and drinking beer (gtfo the road)while you driving. If you do, you no better than a soccer mom that drive a SUV.

You drink and drive? GTFO. You not welcome here.
