The real issue is whether we want people voting en masse. If so, this would probably spell doom for the Republican party as we now know it. To protect their interests, we have to create an aura of 'fraud' associated with making voting more convenient.

Letting the inhabitants of a country vote would only make sense if they wouldn't all be so ignorant on politics.
