Why don't some married men wear a wedding band?

I find it odd that a lot of married men seem to never wear a wedding band. Do they just not like wearing them or is there another reason. Women, would you be pissed if your husband didnt wear their wedding band? FYI, I am married and I do wear mine, it took me a while to get used to it cause I've never worn a ring before, but I do wear it every day.

A lot of people simply don't like jewelery, others do work with their hands that would make the wearing of rings inappropriate, or in some professions dangerous.

i think its a must...if a guy is not wearing a ring, a symbol of the marriage, he is not in it 100%....i never take mine off

For some guys, in some types of job's it's a safety issue.

For other's, it's because they wanna play the field......... 😉

BTW: I don't wear one. But I'm NOT married.

A guy I work with never wears his, but he is a loyal hubbie.

Unless they have a legitimate reason, such as avoiding bodily harm (especially mechanics & the like), I'm of the belief that rings should be worn at all times.

Any guy who doesn't want women to know he's married is a POS as far as I'm concerned.

Personally, I kinda like the idea of my wife being the only one who takes the ring off/puts it on. Granted there are times when that wouldn't be feasible, but in general I would want to avoid taking it off myself.

Accually when I would go out of town I found more women hitting on me then without the band.

As an electronics tech you aren't supposed to wear any jelery.

I don't where my band because I was constantly taking it of because it was in the way.

I have yet to cheat on my wife and doubt wearing a ring would stop me if I was going to.😀

I'm sure for some it's a work safety issue, but the rest? I don't know. I personally like wearing my wedding band...I like being married, so I like the reminder on my finger. It's like a little silver encapsulation of one of the best days of my life that I get to carry around with me.

One note as to the "easier to pick up chicks while not wearing the wedding band" theory.....if anything, you get more attention from women after you get married. Why? I don't know...perhaps one of our female members could enlighten us.

I'm happy to say that most of the replies so far have been 100% correct.

In some jobs, wearing a ring will get your finger torn off (machinery)
Some men do not like jewelery
Some men like to play the field

The only one I feel I need to comment about is:

<< it makes it harder to pick up chicks with a wedding band on. >>

Nope. Most times, any woman over 30 LOOKS for a wedding band. See, most women over 30 are MARRIED and those looking to have an affair usually want to have one with a guy that is married. Why? Less chance of something going hideously wrong that way.

He has as much to lose as she does. He's less likely to call her house at four in the morning and profess his mad love for her, etc, etc.

Generally, it's much safer to have an affair w/a married person than with a single person. They are in it for the sex and nothing else. Perfection.

I can feel the flames of hatred fanning my attractive bottom already...oh well. 😛

thanks for all the replies to my comment guys. i KNOW it is the opposite. it was a joke.

/thinks maybe he should start wearing a wedding band...😉

I don't think you'll get flamed for that...there's a lot of truth in what you said. I mean, there has to be some reason why some women are attracted to married men. It sure as hell isn't that I've gotten better looking since I got married </me looks down at extra 30 lbs I've put on since 1997😱>

I wear it all the time, but I do take it off when I exercise (running, lifting, etc..) and when I go swimming and/or wakeboarding. I've got slim fingers and while the ring stays on fine when my hands are dry, I'm paranoid that when I take a dive boarding, it's gonna go flying off.

I should note, my in-laws don't wear theirs because neither of their's fits them anymore and they didn't want to cough up the money toresize them. They know they're married and God knows they're married, so really all the relevant parties are privy. 😉

I'll wear it on special occasions IE anniversaries , dinners out, weddings etc
I don't wear it for all the reasons stated, except picking up chicks, morality exists in my head and I don't need a symbol as a constant reminder.

There are work restrictions and such... I have heard stories of people getting their finger ripped off from a ring snagging various items. I even saw a guy arc a welder accidentally on his wedding band and it goobered up his finger pretty bad...so bad that he had to have his ring cut off because his finger had swollen so much he couldn't get it off. :Q

I am thankful that I work at a job where I can wear mine though. I have had it on now for at least 5 years consecutively (worked at a factory before that and couldn't wear it... though I would put it in my pocket when I got to work and put it back on when I walked out the door.)

just a tad slight understatement there😉 hehe

personally, i HATE wearing jewelry, but i'm not married yet. I dont think i will wear it religiously. I dont need a ring to remind me that i am with someone special.

I can only image how annoying it can be, I hate jewelry. Some days I can't wear my watch because its just flat out annoying, let alone a tight band on my finger. And it makes it all that much easier to get zapped if you work around electricity. Then again I'm not married so i don't have to worry about wearing it or not wearing it 🙂

I fall into the "I hate having jewelry, watches, hats, ect" hanging, dangling, or wrapped around my body. I don't wear a watch. I've never worn a bracelet or a necklace of any sort. Hats are the devil. And rings just don't work on my fingers. I've got really big knuckles, but really skinny fingers so I need a big ring to get over my knuckle, but once it does, it's really loose and is ungodly annoying.

I'm going to be pretty much forced to wear my ring by my soon to be wife, but I'm going to hate every waking moment of having that damn thing on me. We compromised though. I'm getting a titanium wedding band that weighs like 1/10th what an equivalently sized platinum band would weigh. It's still on my finger, but at least it's light enough not to bug me....that much.

I'm forced to wear one by my wife but if I wasn't I wouldn't wear it. I just don't like jewelry that's all.

Funny thing is, my wife doesn't wear her wedding or engagement ring at all unless we are going out. She say's its because her fingers swell and it makes it uncomfortable. Whatever....

LOL! You sound like all my cycling buddies that are married...they all ended up getting Titanium rings since they're lighter and Ti is still a somewhat "exotic" material for bike frames. Looks nice when it's all polished up too.🙂

Actually, I find mine pretty comfy. It's a white gold with what they called "Comfort Fit" which basically meant that the inside was rounded a bit. Not at all uncomfortable. As I said earlier, I only remove it when I think I might lose it, other than that it's great.

In fact, when I don't have it on, I felltodd because I usually futz with it with my thumb. So when i don't fell it with my thumb i get freaked momentarily.

I wear mine 24/7.
Far as I know my father does the same.
My father father in law wears it all the time except when he's working on the farm for the obvious reasons.
I suppose I should take it off when assembling computers but I figure there is no juice running through them until I plug em in...
*shrug*

Heh, the other nice thing about it is that it cost's 1/5 what platinum does too! I agree as well, it does look cool when it's polished. That's originally what caught my eye 🙂

Yeh, I know what a comfort fit is. They still don't work because the ring has to be a half size bigger to get over my knuckle, but once it gets past, it's too big and then slides around and is really loose. VERY annoying.
