Why don't people wash their hand after using the restroom

This is one of those frequenetly discussed topics. A while back (in archives) there was a poll (which is gone because of the archives), and apprixmately half the people HERE do NOT wash after using the restroom. All kinds of excuses and stories. Create a poll again and see. It's scary.

Because the minute you touch the bathroom door to open it when leaving, you just made it pointless by washing your hands...

Same thing at work..i see people just step right out after taking a dump without washing their hands as if nothing happened... My female friends were telling me the same thing at their workplace. They see women that don't wash their hands after changing those monthly devices or after emptying their bowels....
man, isn't that like the first thing people learn after potty training...wash your hands when you're done!!!

I don't poo on my hands.

No really...do you wash your hands after you touch your wallet?

If you're educated, and really concerned about germs (and I'm not saying you're either), if someone gave you a choice to lick a toilet seat or to lick a dollar bill, you'd jump at the chance to like the toilet seat. It has an order of magnitude less germs.

(as an aside, if you touch the door handle after you wash your hands, you might as well just not wash your hands at all...not that I'm a germ freak...I'm more of the George Carlin school of though. Our body is built to defend against germs. You get sick, you get sick. You'll get better eventually)

I only wash my hands in a public bathroom when I'm at work and there is somebody else in there, just to make it look good.

Dogs eat their own sh!t and don't die.
Cat's lick the sh!t off their paws and arse when they're finished using a litter box and don't die.

Germs are way overrated. I haven't been sick in 4 or 5 years (other than the occasional hangover) - perhaps this is due to my immune system remaining strong due to not babying it all the time?

If you get pee or poo on your hands while you're in the bathroom and require a hand washing, I pity you. Use more toilet paper and have somebody else hold the mangina for you next time.

The building I work in has touchless (motion sensor) urinals, faucets and hand dryers. And no bathroom doors, just corridors with bends in them so you can't see in. You don't touch anything anybody else has touched.
Of course I still wash my hands. It's hygene people, come on.

This reminds me of the movie Deuce Bugalow: Male Gigolo where his dad eats that vietnamese cake while cleaning the restuarant toilets.

Yeah, our facility has a lot of automated stuff in the bathroom, too. Problem is, you gotta wipe your own butt with your own hand, which means you had better wash!

Unless the place is COMPLETELY automated, in which case I'd be... very scared...

Considering how many things you touch during the day that have also been touched by any number of other unknown people, I have to wonder why more people don't wash their hands before using the facilities. :Q

If you don't wash your hands after wiping your ass, you are a filthy person. I don't care if you poop on your hand. Germs are invisible, and there can be some nasty germs in poop.

wow...never thought of that argument...'don't wash my hands b/c i learned not to pee or defecate in my hands'
enlightning indeed!
I guess goes along the same theory, I didn't sweat today therefore no shower...

Along with the theory, logic escapes me so I don't use it.

I don't wallow in feces, so I guess I shouldn't take showers.

yuck, I always wash my hands and then I try my hardest not to touch anything while existing the bathroom because of the people who don't wash their hands

I try to use a paper towel to open the door, etc.

You people amaze me. You're the same type of people who thought germs didn't exist because you can't see them.

Is not washing your hands after you crap a little gross, by most standards? yes.

Do is have anything to with hygene? Not really

Like I said before, if you know anything about anything, you'd know there's much more germs in your mouth than on your anus. There's more germs in money than on a toilet seat. Your keyboard is more "gross" than most things. You probably inadvertantly touch your face and spread germs that way many times a day.

I think the "logic" behind the "I don't poo on myself therefore I don't need to wash my hands" is this: If I did poo on my hands, I'd wash them, because having poo on ones hands is probably bad. Since I don't poo on my hands, there isn't poo on my hands. That doesn't mean there isn't germs, just means there is no poo. And since there are germs EVERYWHERE, and our bodies are MADE to combat them, my efforts for personal health might be better spent elsewhere, and not in the bathroom.

If you don't agree with that, great, be a germ-freak. Just let me peruse your MP3 collection after you die because your immune system sucks.

There are germs everywhere. Those germs aren't cholera and e-coli. "More germs" means nothing.

Remind me never to shake hands with you without wearing disposable gloves. I strongly disagree with you. So does the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other Federal health organizations. Then, there's this quote in CBS News's story about all of the cruise ships hit with the Norwalk virus:
Federal health officials are telling cruise lines to carefully clean their ships and to remind crew members and passengers of the importance of frequent hand-washing to avoid the viruses.

I swear to god this is a repost, i remember posting in it! thought it was ressurected from the dead or something.

because my dick isnt that dirty! and if it was i would be washing it NOT my hands. i generally only wash them when i piss or sh!t on them on accedent
