Why dont people shut their garages at night?

a few days ago after i went to the movies (im 17) i went over to a friends house, and just driving through the neighborhood i saw about 15 houses with their garage door open. Kids around here like to get alcohol, thus they go garaging! now why do people think its safe to leave the garage door open here? yes i live in a small town, but no way are you not going to have something happen atleast once.

(garaging, entering the garage in search of alcohol, or other things)

what are your thoughts?

i am talking around 11' at night though!! how well can you hear in your garage when your aslepp?

That's crazy. The whole point of having a garage is the fact that it has a door. 😕

I'd never intentionally leave mine open and there's not even anything really good in there besides my car and some tools
 
I've heard it called "garage-hopping". I think it must be a regional thing, I'm from Portland and I had never heard of it until I met my college roommate who was from Chicago.

My best friend's parents have one of those. They've got a tap on the outside and then usually a couple cases of beer inside. The garage door over there is always open during the day, but after about 8 P.M. or so, it's shut. I guess it's a good thing that my best friend gave me the code to his garage. 😀
