Why dont people shut their garages at night?

Most people in the neighborhood my mom lives in always leave theirs open too... Don't think there are too many incidents though...

In my town, you can be issued a crime prevention citation if you leave your garage open at night. There's not a fine, just a notice to close your door at night.

our town isnt an everyone knows everyone town, i believe between the 2 towns which attend the school i go to, there are around 12,000 people.

Sounds like my town i grew up in too.. Town Watch would drive around and issue them to people with doors open.

If you're not smart enough to close your garage door at night, that's your own problem....not that of the local law enforcement.

It's law enforcement's job to prevent crime, that's what they're doing. It's not like cops are spending their entire shifts doing this... if they see an open door, they leave a quick note telling them to close it.
