Why don't liberals move to Canada?

Why are you trying to change America to be more like it rather than moving there yourself? It's a closet-socialist's wet dream come true.

They have:

1. Universal Healthcare
2. Gay marriages legalized
3. No Patriot Act
4. Decriminalization of pot (almost?) and lower drinking age
5. No references to God in pledges or money

If you're staying here just for the landscape you may be pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the Canadian Rockies, Victoria Island, and the other side of Niagara Falls.

It's really kind of sad that you even took the time to think this up, and then decided to type it out for us.

You honestly believe he thought that up?

I'm sure it came forwarded in an email.

I agree.

You know what's really sad about these boards is that the conservative posters with whom I'm sure I agree on most issues (save foreign policy or gay marriage) end up being some of the biggest trolls. I'm not a liberal, but whenever I hear statements like this from HOP, I cringe, because it's one of the most immature things a person could ever say in a political debate. It's akin to saying, "Well, you don't like this marriage? Then leave!"

I don't agree with most allegedly liberal philosophies, but I do have many friends who are liberal and I was raised in a centrist/slightly-leftist household. I enjoy reasoned political debate with most of my acquaintances and friends, and not once will one of us throw around the term "liberal" or "neo-con" like it's an epithet.

You're better than this, at least you're capable of more. Please, don't place other conservatives in such a bad light.

thats stupid, its like telling people if they dont like something dont change it, dont try and change your country for the better. Plus have you ever heard of a system called checks and balances, things have to even out.

So stupid, after the move, you would use the line "If you don't live in this country, we don't care what you think" comment. Nice try.

Maybe you should move there first? That way, we wouldn't have to tolerate your incessant whining. :p

I think you got some serious answers. This country isn't based on if you don't like it leave. This is a country supposedly by the people for the people, is it not?

I'm not suggesting Liberals be banned from voting...just that they live in a place that they don't have to work so hard to change.

I've given you my answer. People become entrenched in a country and in a state and a town, they form close friendships and acquaintanceships and they build a life. Usually it takes catastrophic events (like a pogrom or a natural disaster) to uproot any specific subsection of a population.

Ask a more intelligent question next time, instead of one thinly-disguised as a dismissal of the validity of the democratic two-party system.

Last I checked, 50% of the voting public voted for a Democrat last election, and public opinion is currently split roughly 50/50 between a conservative and liberal presidential candidate. Sounds to me more like the voting public wants to change America.

Most ignorant thread- EVER.

I take it HeroOfPellinor must have agreed with absolutely everything Clinton did during his term, otherwise he surely would not still be living here, right?

exactly what i was going to say.

move here to Oklahoma, you would fit in with all the other small minded folk who resist any type of change.

they would be more than welcome to have you, although with California tags you would get some strange looks for a while.

Who here is complaining about the nation, itself? It's the leadership that needs to be removed and replaced with one that will foster debate in determining policy and actually use diplomacy in its foreign relations.

I know I am stupid (thus a Republican), but if 50% voted Democrat last election and "public opinion is currently split roughly 50/50 between a conservative and liberal presidential candidate," how, then, could you conclude that the "voting public wants to change America?" Are they teaching some sort of new Godel META-logic proofs that I need to research? :)
