Why don't cell phones these days have simple ringtones?

I just load up a random MP3. I have imperial march right now, I should probably change it as I've had it for a while. I had banana phone at some point, that was a fun one too. I should put that back.

Then there's always the super classic one, I don't even know how to describe it, but I recall it being in Jurassic Park when the T rex eats the phone and it's ringing inside of it. It goes something like Deli lee lee lee, deli lee leeeee.

There was the ringtone that I had on my old Nextel phone a long time ago. It was a midi of the Iron Maiden song "Wildest Dreams" and it sounded like boss fight music from an NES game.
For that reason I loved it and I wish I could find it again.

Who has it on anything but vibrate anymore... And who even uses the call function except in emergencies?

You guys must all wear skin tight pants because i rarely feel it vibrate in my pocket. I don't get many calls though. I did download some but i shouldn't have to. I don't want song as a ringtone as i often listen to music so i need something different than music as the ring tone. I hate people who have annoying ringtones that are like wierd songs or supposedly funny sayings.

put it on vibrate like you should anyways. No one wants to hear your phone ring.

Exactly.

I hate being forced to endure annoying ringtones. Further I almost always keep my phone on vibrate for incoming calls. I'd be embarrassed to have a song play when I receive a call.

Pretty much anyone I actually want to communicate with will text me anyway and for that a simple beep is perfect.

I don't like rings. The sound is too jarring. I use a stock music tone for calls(A Rustling in the Trees), and bird chirps for notifications. If I'm gonna be somewhere loud for awhile, and I think about it, I switch my notification sound to a red tail hawk scream. I don't do that often though cause I always forget to set it back, and that sound makes me jump out of my skin when it's quiet.

For my notifications, I use that message tone from Crisis Core (was a pita to record that 1/4 sec). Reasonably audiable, yet not jarring.

Should find a good sound for the phone itself though.

I had a Motorola Android 2.3 years back. I always wondered. There was some app I used that tapped into a database of user submitted sounds. The factory ones were terrible.

iPhone comes with at least a few that are ok.

I hate those assholes who hear their phone ring, reach into the dark place they keep the fucking thing, pull it out, stare at the screen as it continues to ring for like 20 fucking seconds without silencing it, put it down for a second to put on their reading glasses, pick it up again as it continues to ring then FINALLY answer it as loudly as they can after it rang for like two fucking minutes straight and then wonder why everyone in the room is staring at them with rage.

Basically, fuck ring tones BECAUSE of those people. Vibrate all the way.

Billions of people.

And the "who still does X" thing is usually thousands of times douchier than the thing they're complaining about.
