Why does Trump get so exercised over black athletes peacefully protesting vs white nationalists?

I'm not defending the poll. It may or may not bee spot on just like ANY other poll.

Absolutely not. It is not like ANY other poll, as other polls are conducted by nonpartisan groups. This is a poll conducted by a Republican strategist, meaning they do not adhere to the same standards of objectivity and scientific rigor that professional pollsters do. This is because the incentive of this pollster is to push Republican friendly narratives, not protect its reputation for accurate polling. ie: Remington's polls are garbage.

I do think that most people think the President is correct and they should stand for the Anthem. This has nothing to do with race.

What is your basis for this?

That isn't what I said. Do you have a link to a poll that says otherwise? I believe most Americans agree that they should stand for the Anthem and that is not racist.
Most probably think 'you stand for the anthem because other people stand for the anthem'. It's institutionalized knowledge based on herd mentality. And I'm sure nobody thinks standing for the anthem is racist, anyone that states that it's racist is probably pushing an agenda.

My basis is the hundreds of people that I interact with on a daily basis and common sense.

Not standing for the Anthem is disrespectful. The President saying that and speaking his personal opinion that they should be fired or benched is not racial or racist in any way. The Only people bringing race into this is the liberal media.

1) I guarantee you did not poll hundreds of people.
2) Even if you did that is an obviously nonrandom sample.
3) Common sense means 'what I want to believe'.

So your basis is in effect, 'I know what I know'.

To whom? Before you start, bear in mind, I'm a vet, American, and (mostly) white, and am in no way feeling disrespected by this.

The President is speaking on an official presidential platform though, according to the WH. I do agree that his statement probably wasn't 'racist', but it was in bad form, and it does encourage racists to continue, as those objecting to their behavior (like this NFL player) are being actively bashed in a public matter, on an official WH communication vector, by the CIC.

I am also a veteran, white and I do feel like they are being disrespectful to the many that have fought and died for this country and for the freedoms they have. There are better avenues for them to protest the treatment of black people without disrespecting something else.

Bad form or not, he was giving his personal opinion. I agree with his opinion. The NFL agreed with his opinion in the rules:

“Throughout the period on game-day that a player is visible to the stadium and television audience (including in pregame warm-ups, in the bench area, and during postgame interviews in the locker room or on the field), players are prohibited from wearing, displaying, or otherwise conveying personal messages either in writing or illustration, unless such message has been approved in advance by the League office. Items to celebrate anniversaries or memorable events, or to honor or commemorate individuals, such as helmet decals, and arm bands and jersey patches on players’ uniforms, are prohibited unless approved in advance by the League office. All such items approved by the League office, if any, must relate to team or League events or personages. The League will not grant permission for any club or player to wear, display, or otherwise convey messages, through helmet decals, arm bands, jersey patches, or other items affixed to game uniforms or equipment, which relate to political activities or causes, other non-football events, causes or campaigns, or charitable causes or campaigns. Further, any such approved items must be modest in size, tasteful, non-commercial, and noncontroversial; must not be worn for more than one football season; and if approved for use by a specific team, must not be worn by players on other teams in the League.”

Referring to their mothers as bitches is racist. I heard Paul Ryan's response to this. That would have been appropriate from a POTUS who wanted their opinion known.
"I think it's misguided to protest the anthem or the flag because people don't see it as an issue, as some political issue -- they see it as protesting against the people who have‎ given their lives for this country and the ideals we all strive for to make a more perfect union,"

Well, you're free to be offended, but bear in mind nobody's kneeling to disrespect veterans (or at least shouldn't be), it's just to draw attention to what they feel is important. Hell, I feel far more disrespect from people flying the Confederate flag, due to my great grandfather (great great? I forget) fighting in the Civil War. Drawing attention to something they feel is important is as American as apple pie.

And I think we can both agree that the NFL (like any major organization) gives zero real shits about issues like this, they have legalese in place to protect themselves from either social or legal flak, nothing more.

It's more offensive to have a POTUS giving a wink and nod to white supremacists

I agree, unfortunately apparently we need a written statement from Trump stating 'I'm a white supremacist, a racist in the worst way imaginable, and I really really really want to bring about a cultural revolution whereupon the white male is the supreme race/gender combination' for any card-carrying Republicans to take his statements/actions as they are.

No, Not at all.

You are however a c**t in my opinion.

Now, I have lowered myself to your standards and resorted to name calling. I don't usually go for this but in your case an exception is OK.

you can blow off some steam. I work you over like a side of beef. Your mind is a Byzantine conduit of poor choices and hypocrisy.

In other news...Michael Bennett caught lying about his interaction with the police. Kind of makes the whole "movement" look stupid.

No, it doesn't make the whole movement look stupid -- it just means you should always double-check claims. Bennett doesn't invalidate Kaepernick or most others, just as murky uses of police force don't invalidate obvious abuses like the deaths of Eric Garner or Walter Scott.
