How much money you have is called how much you are worth. Since we were made to feel worthless this substitute assumes tremendous, but illusory, importance. Look, see, I'm not worthless afterall.

The answer is actually a biological one that dates back to the beginning of human history.

The female humans have a primal need for security. The males (instinctively) knowing this strive to become very secure which makes them more attractive to more females.

That's putting it into a nutshell...but nevertheless is the absolute truth.

Bah! Its easy to spout of idioms like "money isnt everything" and "money does not but you happiness" but try living like that in reality an see how it feels, ditch everything and move into the lower class tenements of a large african city and see how happy you feel!

it is only the excess of money which can cause problems. but to people with very little money, a small amount of money leads to a great amount of happiness!

As everclear said, loosly quoted "People who say the money is the root of all evil have never known the joy of a welfare Christmas.". Money is a tool used to buy goods and services. No money = no real way to live in our society. Money is a means to an end, not the end in itself. Thus, those who are a slave to earning just for the sake of earning do not know the real value of money. I like money and would love to be a millionaire, but I also am aware of the balance needed between bringing in money into my life and enjoying the rest of it (much of which depends upon how much money I have of course).

Depends on the person. For me personally, money took care of the basic needs of my life which has helped me concentrate on more important spiritual achievments. I'm not rich though, infact I'm kind of poor right now, I make just enough to not have to worry about money, and that's all it took to make me happy. Also, I think a world based on wealth power is a little better than a world based on power through wars all the time, yet in theory, 'all we need is love.' We are all just on a path towards becoming better people, money is just part of the process, and the times we live in now.

You are not your job. You are not how much you have in the bank. You are not the contents of your wallet. You are not your f*cking Khakis. You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. You are the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.
