Last one I saw, dumbells maxed out at 60lbs, there were no squat racks, and no deadlifting.

The one I used to frequent had 2 power racks, dumbells maxed out at 75lbs, and I saw people deadlifting without issue.

How cute, army guys talking shit again.

My biggest complaints with Planet Fitness is no free bars, and no pull up bar. You can't do squats unless you're on a smith machine, same for bench. That sucks. And there is no just straight bar for pull ups. Granted I have only been to one, but went dozens of times. Thankfully just got my girl to change to my gym.

Yeah, you get kicked out.

They also don't let you bring in water jugs. Or do deadlifts. Or wear tank tops. They threw out a woman because she was too fit and wearing a sports bra.

It's a genius business idea. Advertise and sell to the people who will never actually come to the gym. Kick out the people who actually do come. Rake in $$$ while your gym sits empty.

most gyms make money on the fact that people don't show up. Its not unique to planet fitness at all.

I wore a tank top many times, never had an issue. I brought my own water/Gatorade, never had an issue. You just can't bring a gallon jug, which is idiotic anyways. I have seen women wear sports bras there and not get kicked out. I have doubts what you say happened, but perhaps each is ran differently. There is plenty to dislike about them without making shit up.

Now I know why planet fitness is so cheap.
I know a few people who are members there and now it all makes sense.

"I hurt myself doing squats\deadlifts!!! Those are so bad for you" (Root cause- Smith Machine)

*Shrug* I have no complaints about the one I use for ~$10 (or slightly less) per month.
Has the machines I need and availability isn't an issue (other than during some peak hours).

Planet Fitness is too crowded for me. I've been to a few of them when my wife had a membership, and they all were jam packed.

It gets a bad rap because people who pay $1,000 a year for their gym want to justify their overpriced membership.

Lifetime Fitness Onyx gyms are worth the money (around $110 a month.) I've never been to one of the new Diamond level facilities ($150 a month) but I understand you don't pay for anything in the gym. ie: tennis lessons, personal training, smoothies, etc.

If you agree that the people trying to get in shape outnumber the people that are already in really good shape, it's hard to find fault with their business model. They aren't trying to be Golds Gym or West Side Barbell Club.
