Why does Netflix all of a sudden suck?

I've used Netflix on and off for over a year. I rent DVD's and Blu-ray movies. Generally most movies are available "Now" or "Short Wait", with a few big titles being "Long Wait". Since a few weeks ago, almost every remotely decent title is "Short Wait" or "Long Wait". Also, many times they don't ship out my new movies the same day they receive them back, which never happened before. And lastly, they keep getting shipped from different facilities that take longer, which was rarely the case before. What the heck happened?

if they're following the same practices as before...

the more you rent, the lower on the priority pole you are

somebody who only rents 3 movies a month will have a short waittime for new releases vs a guy who rents 50 movies a month

I  Netflix, it still works great for me.

Are you trying to rent 25 movies a month on the 3-out plan?

For something on long wait you can try switching from blu-ray to plain DVD if it isn't a very visual movie. Blu-ray stock levels should get better in a few months once they stop needing to split their HD stock between blu-ray and HD-DVD.

Which I'm hoping will be soon: http://hardware.slashdot.org/a...l?sid=08/01/25/1615208

^ retail disc sales of HD-DVD have tanked too. For the 2 weeks since the WB announcement, Nielsen/videoscan tracking has blu-ray outselling HD-DVD more than 4-to-1.

I hear ya... at one point last week, the top 12 movies in my queue were all showing "Short Wait", "Long Wait", or "Very Long Wait" status.

They kept shipping me the mediocre movies at the bottom of my queue until I deleted them. NOW, they're finally sending me the movies at the top of my queue from other Netflix shipping centers.

I'm lovin Netflix, I'm on week #2 of my two week trial and am receiving movies earlier than Netflix expects them to get here. Plus I'll be enjoying the instant downloads this weekend... Probably some Voltron on tap for me!

well i'm not saying i don't agree w/ everyone. i LOVED netflix up until 2-3 weeks ago. now even if i have a not-as-popular movie thats available "now" lower in my queue, they wait until the next day to even ship that. i guess i'll give them another month and see if things improve.

i'm a snob, so if blu-ray's available i never switch to dvd, regardless of how important the visuals are for the movie.

i'm guessing it's due to a shift in blu-ray demand, plus i live in L.A. so the hub probably has a lot more customers.

It is because Blockbuster Online increased their rates so everyone switched to Netflix. They can't keep up with the demand.

i put one movie in the mailbox on thursday 8am, and another friday 8am

my replacements came yesterday (thursday) and today (friday)

1 full week for a turnaround...thats ridiculous

i get the next movie in 1 day. the hub is only about 90 miles from here. I never get the movies I want though. it's always something far down in my queue.

been with them from year 1..its been pretty much the same for a long time now.
if your queue is short and you expect every new release, well its not for you.
