"Why does every movie have to be a classic?"

I think a movie can be fun to watch without actually being a 'good' movie. A movie long on explosions and short on plot may be fun to watch once but a good well written movie can be watched over and over again.

I haven't even seen Transformers and feel fairly confident in saying that there is no way it is better than Casablanca.

"Casablanca" entertains through story, acting, cinematography and directing. Haven't seen transformers but it looks like just another special effects vehicle, not much more. I hope high schools have film classes where kids can watch movies like "Casablanca", "high noon", "Flight oh the phoenix" and such. It's saddening to think that today's youth might consider "Harold and Kumar" as some form of art...

too late. most of ATOT has a hard on for that movie and then completely jizzes in their pants when anyone mentions Will Farrell

I don't understand why people like Michael Bay. I can't think of a single movie that he's done that was good. I didn't see either Transformers, but for god sakes, it's a movie remake of a low budget TV show made to sell plastic toys to six year olds. There's just no way it's a good movie.

Who the hell likes Michael Bay?

Someone does. He seem to be one of the most profitable directors and even here, there has been considerable buzz about his last two "summer blockbusters"

I guess we have different definition of "like." Because no one likes his movies. Doesn't mean they won't make money.

Stupid bullshit post. I loved Transformers, same for the sequel.

Transformers was a movie that was fun the first time around because of the novelty, it was "new" and thus could be exciting. The 2nd time watching it I was able to focus more on the plot because that novelty will obviously wear off as its no longer a surprise. Needless to say, the movie was far worse the 2nd time through as the many retarded elements of the movie are no longer overshadowed.

Making a sequel which sounded like it was simply going to be more of the same didn't bode well for me, as I knew there wouldn't be the benefit of the novelty like the first movie had...and thus could only be worse without a major change in direction, which didn't happen.

This is like complaining that a restaurant reviewer doesn't like the food at a crappy truck stop.

Yeah but the truckie doesn't need to be told by some college suit that the food he has eats and enjoys is rubbish.
